Position Overview
Process Canadian payroll in a timely manner with a high level of accuracy. Provide excellent customer service. The Canada Payroll Services Representative will report to the Payroll Manager.
Key Job Responsibilities
Information Management
Process and audit payroll transactions (new hires, time sheets, terminations, increases, retro adjustments, garnishments, etc.) in compliance with all federal, state and local laws, and verify that company policies and procedures are followed. Approve and audit Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) transactions and system information in the UltiPro data system for assigned areas.
Payroll Processing & Administration
Assist in the regular payroll processing, quarter-end and year-end process to produce timely and accurate W2’s. Provide assistance for other administrative tasks (unemployment processing, employment verifications, filing, etc.) as assigned.
Auditing
Audit the pre-check reports and edit each payroll in order to find and correct errors made during the payroll process. Review and verify all workflow transactions for completeness and follow up with supervisors to resolve issues. Audit and report results. Provide assistance for internal audits, external audits.
Compliance
Coordinate the payroll tax process to keep the company compliant with all federal, state and local payroll tax laws. Ensure that the employees are set up with proper payroll taxes applicable to the locations state and local area.
Reporting
Provide system reporting by running payroll reports using Cognos. Run basic payroll query reports for function users and HR customers when necessary or requested.
Required Experience:
• BS/BA preferred, CPP certification preferred
• Minimum of 3 years HR/Payroll experience in a high volume payroll processing environment
• At least 1 year experience processing payroll for employees in Canada
• 1 – 3 years’ experience processing Canadian payroll, auditing and payroll taxes
• Thorough knowledge of Ultimate Software preferred, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills are essential
