Description
Job Role:
Manages the daily operation of the Operational Presentation Department. Supervises, monitors, and evaluates the work performance of the Grounds Assistant Supervisor and Team Lead and the Waste Management Assistant Supervisor and Team Lead. Supervises general park cleanliness prior opening including air blowing and washing down the resort and parking lots. Controls annual operating expenses and labor budgets. Manages the Waste Management Operation that includes all landfill, recycle, organic, hazardous, and electronic waste. Manages the Day Porter and ensures all administration buildings receive proper daily cleaning. Maintains an accurate and working inventory of all cleaning equipment. Solely manages the entire Day Service Cleanliness operation and ensures all pathways and restrooms are frequently cleaned during park hours. Accountable for the day to day staff management including recruitment, performance reviews, scheduling, and payroll. Ensure the Guest Service Core thrives in department.
Scope and Responsibilities:
1. Oversees the Operational Presentation Department for LEGOLAND California Resort, Sea Life Aquarium, and Water Park.
2. Assists with setting Department Standards as well as maintaining them through MC monitoring, auditing, training and recertification.
3. Controls operational expense, contracted work, and labor according to budget.
4. Oversees ordering of all supplies and maintains strong working relationships with vendors.
5. Oversees preventative and repair maintenance of all equipment.
6. Oversee the Park’s Day Porter to ensure all admin offices are cleaned in the morning and maintained throughout the day.
7. Available to audit, recognize and coach MCs as needed to ensure Purpose and Role are fulfilled consistently.
8. Oversee the Park’s Waste Management Contract and supervise Waste Technicians to ensure the park’s waste is disposed of properly and efficiently.
9. Lead by example to ensure MCs and Team Leads meet or exceed the Guest Service Core standards. Perform necessary follow up for MCs who are not demonstrating the Guest Service Core.
10. Ensures all restroom, pathways, trash cans, queue lines, ride areas are cleaned daily.
11. Assists with outside department cleaning needs including pressure washing and detailing work.
12. Responsible for all recycling operations including co-chairing the Park’s “Green Wave” Committee. Oversee collection, sorting, removal, and state reimbursement for all recycled items and organic waste generated from all resort sites.
13. Accountable for developing a strong team including proper training on all mechanical elements and chemicals, holding performance reviews, and managing high performance standards.
14. Work closely with the Health and Safety team to ensure proper Hazcom training is met. Organizes and checks accuracy of all training documents related to SDS training, heavy machinery training, and Park Presentation SOPs.
Background and Experience:
• Minimum of five years’ experience in custodial Theme Park services or other custodial management
• Minimum of two years of supervisory experience is required.
• Experience with managing inventory and budgets preferred.
• Self-motivated with demonstrable initiative.
• Computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point) are required
• Must be capable of training and creating documentation as needed to support the Department.
• Must have strong problem solving skills and remain dedicated to providing outstanding guest service.
• Ability to delegate and organize sporadic and long term work assignments while maintaining attention to detail required.
Education:
Minimum high school diploma. General computer skills with an average understanding of MS Office.
Work Environment:
Various Indoor and Outdoor locations with varying temperatures and floor surfaces.
Exposed to all aspects of weather including wet and/or humid conditions.
Other Requirements:
• Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends to support park operations. Must currently have or have the ability to acquire a valid Driver’s License.
• Preferably the candidate should have six months of service as a Grounds Technician.
• The candidate must be able to operate and provide training for all Grounds equipment.
• Must be 18 years of age.
