WORLD Channel is a 24/7, full service multicast channel featuring public television’s signature nonfiction documentary, science and news programming complemented by original content from emerging producers. It is also a production unit that curates, produces content with independent producers and national content partners.
Position Overview
The Assistant Editor will report to the Executive Producer and will handle the preparation of all editing and media materials for the studio shoots and series production, of a new production called Stories from the Stage (SFTS), which is produced in WGBH’s Studio in front of a live audience. The position will also work closely with the Director during the shoot, and Editors regarding post-production materials.
This includes:
• Adobe Premiere Ingesting file based sources.
• Creating, loading and editing credits and lower thirds
• Packaging and reformatting sequences for different broadcast elements
• Re-formatting clips.
• Creating edited clip-reels
• Exporting materials for review and the promotion/web/Social Media groups.
• Creating and outputting alternate versions of programs
• Media management.
• Quality assessing all media that leaves the unit
• Managing and distributing collateral materials for the series including billing blocks, funder beds, signature art and cleared images if needed.
Skills Required
Previous Assistant Editor experience required.
• TV Production experience and experience in managing media
• Must be proficient on Premiere editing systems
• Strong organizational skills and experience in managing multiple projects at the same time
• Strong writing skills
• Positive attitude, with the ability to work with Executive Producers, Sr. Producers, Editors and others in a collaborative / team environment – often working toward stringent time deadlines and changing priorities
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
