Description
Printed Matter seeks an outgoing Sales Associate with strong leadership qualities who will support the Bookstore Manager by playing a key role in sales and customer service, store and display maintenance, marketing, merchandising, and targeted sales initiatives; as well as holding other store, sales and inventory-related responsibilities.
Printed Matter’s new Sales Associate will help meet and surpass sales goals across the organization’s many sales categories by developing an excellent standard of customer service, devising new merchandising strategies, and building relationships with institutions, booksellers, galleries and private collectors through targeted sales initiatives and other means.
The Sales Associate will also support the Bookstore Manager in increasing sales of fundraising editions, developing and managing off-site sales opportunities; performing community outreach; supporting sales-related social media and PR campaigns; managing store events; and by participating in other aspects of inventory maintenance, including the annual inventory count.
Lastly, the Sales Associate will support the Bookstore Manager in supervising interns and assistants as needed.
Qualifications
-Passion for Printed Matter and our mission
-A deep interest in contemporary art and artists’ books
-1-2 years retail experience with POS experience
-Expertise in merchandising, marketing and PR techniques
-Graphic design experience preferred, Adobe Creative Cloud strongly recommended
-Excellent communications skills (both oral and written)
-Personable, outgoing and customer-service oriented
-Strong work ethic, highly motivated and able to take initiative
-Team player, equally able to work independently
-Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
-Ability to multitask, problem solve and meet deadlines
The Sales Associate position is full-time (5 days a week), with benefits.
