What You’ll Do:
The Membership Product Director will develop products and experiences that make membership a compelling value proposition, help users derive the most value from their subscription, and cultivate habits that promote retention and loyalty. You will collaborate closely with our partners in Marketing and other divisions to optimize existing products and build and execute upon an ambitious roadmap. You will be expected to grow the value and utility of your products in a dynamic, fast-moving marketplace, with success measured by product-specific KPIs. To succeed in this role, you must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy, and the personal drive and charisma to make your vision a reality.
Deepening our relationship with subscribers, our most engaged and valuable audience, is a key focus for Gannett and we are looking for a confident, dynamic leader and product evangelist who will:
• Develop products and “member-only” experiences that deepen our relationship with subscribers and promote loyalty and retention
• Optimize existing loyalty products in close partnership with the Consumer Marketing team
• Create customized membership experiences for various personas, allowing different users to extract the most value out of their membership
• Collaborate with Marketing partners on the Events business to build programs and products to achieve aggressive expansion goals
• Along with the Business Intelligence, Marketing, and Audience Platform teams, proactively identify members who have disengaged and build and launch products to re-engage and retain these users
• Work with the Product leadership team, the Marketing team and other invested partners to understand the broader vision and translate that into a cohesive roadmap.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine requirements, resolve conflicts, and remove impediments for development teams.
• Partner with the software development and UX teams in an Agile environment to define user stories, acceptance criteria, groom backlogs, prioritize features and conduct user acceptance testing.
• Manage engagements with third-party partners and consultancies in support of Membership initiatives; represent Product in discussions with vendors sourced by Marketing and other stakeholders for Membership efforts.
• Monitor and analyze product performance metrics In partnership with the Marketing, Audience Platform and Business Intelligence teams, and use this data to identify new product opportunities that will improve user experiences and retention.
Qualifications:
• 5-10 years of product management experience, preferably in membership and retention products
• Bachelor's degree. MBA and/or advanced degree preferred.
• Deep experience with agile software development methodology
• Fluency in human-centered product discovery with a passion for user-centered design
• Firm understanding of relevant web design and development technologies with the ability to translate business requirements to engineering teams.
• A steadfast advocate of the user experience
• Ability to think critically and constructively about complex business problems, clearly communicate analysis, and present solutions that address business needs.
• Experience using data and metrics to independently test theories, confirm assumptions, and measure success with attention to detail.
• Curious and open minded, with a knack for synthesizing and prioritizing stakeholder requests.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Decisive with a bias towards action.
• A highly motivated self-starter who can work effectively across cross-functional teams and also make things happen on your own.
• A strong communicator with great written and verbal skills.
• A team player and fun to work with. Loves to share inspiration and new ideas with your direct and indirect teams.
