POSITION OVERVIEW
Townsquare Media Quad Cities is looking for a Brand Manager - Promotions Director – Air Talent to help grow our portfolio of brands and content creators. You will be the brand captain for at least 1 of our stations in the market and will work with our on air teams, the sales department, sales manager, Market President and Operations Manager to carry the radio station brands forward on air and in the digital world.
As Promotions Director you will be the driving force behind organizing and coordinating promotional events, arranging on-air contests, creating/executing sales programs, increasing the visibility of the cluster in the community, collecting, organizing and distributing prizes, and coordinating promotional on-air activity.
As Air Talent, you’ll create an entertaining, informative program daily. Your show will be focused on your station’s target demographic and be interactive, on-air and online. You’ll be a brand ambassador for the company and your brands at community events, online, and on-air.
This position requires someone with strong leadership, programming, and promotions skills. You will collaborate extensively on brand and promotional strategies with the Operations Manager, Sales Manager, sales team, and Market President. You will be confident in leading your teams and executing the strategies set to advance the success of Townsquare Media Quad Cities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Quickly become proficient on OPX in both in studio’s and production rooms
• Take complete ownership of the stations brand both on air and in the digital space
• Update the Operations Manager weekly on terrestrial and digital progress of the property
• Attend periodic meetings with the Townsquare Brand Captain for your format
• Attend regularly scheduled meetings with the station consultant to discuss Programming
• Co-Host / Host radio program and be live on air Monday – Friday
• Spend time each day doing daily show prep
• Do commercial production daily/as necessary
• Attend a weekly one-on-one with Operations Manager
• Attend other programming/sales meetings as requested
• Work with station “voice” to keep station’s imaging fresh including timely promo’s for upcoming events
• Total responsibility for the overall sound of your radio station
• Provide good local content ideas for your show as well as other shows
• Scheduling: Board ops for remotes to include yourself, talent for client remotes
• Weekend coverage including board operations, station events, set-up/tear-down and emceeing
• Learn the Townsquare blogging procedures
• Blog a minimum of 12 blogs per week on the station website – local and regional content (national content must be approved prior to posting)
• Facebook daily posts before and during your show (this does not count towards blogging requirements)
• Able to voice track or go live on one or more Townsquare radio stations when needed, vacation relief, sick days or in case of emergency
• Focus on our station’s presence in the local community.
• Continuous brainstorming, suggesting and devising of creative ideas for contesting, promotions and events that generate revenue and drive ratings.
• Work with the sales team to brainstorm, create and execute customized client partnership programs.
• Hire and manage promotions part time staff and interns.
• Plan, execute and track revenue-generating marketing and promotional events and contesting that take place on-air, online and on-site.
• Implement all aspects of on-air contesting. Work with digital team to coordinate online contesting.
• Create client promotions and promotional proposals with OM and DOS.
• Have stations on the street making an impact, whether a paid sales event or if there isn’t a sales event scheduled on a weekend, make a plan to have our stations out doing something every weekend.
• Participate at station promotional events as necessary, including set-up and breakdown of promotional equipment and materials.
• Vehicle maintenance: Make sure the vehicles are always clean, loaded, and ready for the next event. We should always be ready to roll to a last-minute opportunity. Ensure vehicles are properly maintained (oil changes, tire pressure, wiper blades, gasoline, etc.).
• Take ownership of the promotional process and see projects through to the end.
• Plan and execute meaningful promotions meetings. Manage and drive the flow of promotion-related communication. Recap events of the previous week at promo meetings.
• Schedule and coordinate station talent at promotional events.
• Plan out in advance a calendar of large community events, and develop an involvement plan.
• Manage the promotions budget by working with the Business and Market Manager
SUGGESTED QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:
• Participate in a variety of digital assets the company offers for our listeners/digital users
• Prepare and be on air each Monday-Friday during morning drive (5am – 9am) and handle other necessary tasks within the radio station when called upon
• Must demonstrate dependability, passion, strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Business acumen, open-mindedness and a sense of what it takes to win are essential
• Previous on-air programming required
• Prior experience working in marketing or promotions within the same or a similar industry is preferred.
• The right candidate will need to be Solution oriented- good problem solving skills in a high energy environment.
• An energetic and outgoing "people person”
• Must be very well organized and manage time well.
• Should have a record of excelling in a team environment and have strong computer and graphic art literacy, and solid writing abilities.
• Supervisory experience since this person will be overseeing a department.
