Job Purpose:
Responsible for ensuring the execution and oversight of the people, processes, and tools that enable customer ordering and revenue flow for the NHE Assessment Business (HESI). This includes full ownership of the quote/order management and billing functions and team based in and out of the Elsevier Houston office. The role will also be responsible for developing solutions which facilitate and optimize the customer experience from a billing and invoicing perspective. Success in this position requires the ability to directly engage with customers on complex needs and effectively and closely partner across the business with functions including sales, marketing, finance, and operations.
Main Activities and Responsibilities:
Operational
• Ensure ongoing operational excellence in the customer ordering and billing processes by Identifying, designing and implementing process and technology improvements that enhance the throughput, productivity, and quality of HESI financial operations
• Coordinate and perform business unit month end and annual closing activities, including the ability to closely work with central accounting and finance teams
• Lead, execute, and participate on projects that fulfill and help to meet strategic objectives for the HESI business, including but not limited to developing alternative customer payment models from institutions and students with timing flexibility.
• Support the development of processes, procedures to enable complex product needs for strategic high value customers
• Engage with sales and customers on complex/sensitive issues including but not limited to billing/invoicing, and general customer support
Staff Management
• Lead the recruitment, training, and management of staff to meet business need
• Conduct performance reviews for all positions and resources on the team
• Develop (and facilitate) learning and development mechanisms to ensure that the HESI financial operations team can effectively and easily fulfill business and customer needs
Leadership
• Demonstration, through decisions and actions, of support for the company values
• Provide direction and support to team in their daily execution of business activity
• Make key business decisions to ensure limited to no disruption to the business
• Ensure effective coordination and communication is maintained throughout the team, with functions across Elsevier and the NHE business, and customers
• Represent HESI/Assessment operational and product needs across NHE business
