The Community of Literary Magazines and Presses (CLMP)—the national arts service organization for independent literary publishing—seeks a part-time, in-office Communications Manager to join our small and dynamic team. This single position reports to the Executive Director, manages and produces content for CLMP’s social media platforms and website, and works collaboratively with CLMP staff. COMPENSATION/BENEFITS The position is part-time at approximately two days/week, paid at the rate of $25/hour, includes access to TransitChek and has the option to contribute to a 403(b) retirement plan. DETAILS OF POSITION: The successful candidate is a motivated digital media professional who can leverage a robust literary network to efficiently market CLMP programs; edit and publish a monthly e-newsletter; design graphics and logos for social media and the web; maintain CLMP’s website and blog; manage the Communications intern; seek out new avenues for expanding outreach; and contribute to the conversation surrounding CLMP’s evolving brand identity. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Marketing: Working with CLMP staff, develop robust marketing plans for all CLMP programs, including targeted email outreach, social media planning, ongoing branding, and promotional partnerships. Gather content for, edit, and publish CLMP’s monthly e-newsletter, and take the lead on designing additional email marketing campaigns as requested by CLMP staff. - Social Media: Working with the Communications intern, collaboratively maintain a strategic daily calendar for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram encompassing high-quality, conversational original content; literary news and shares; ads for CLMP programs and fundraising; and partnership content. Monitor and report on social media analytics as required for organizational development. - Website: Maintain CLMP website by updating and revising pages as requested by CLMP staff; strategically designing pages for upcoming programs, bearing in mind basic UX principles and internal workflow for data collection; corresponding with CLMP Webmaster to scope and complete larger projects; and identifying areas of website for improvement. - Blog Editorial: Working with the Communications intern, maintain an editorial calendar for the CLMP blog, engaging intern, CLMP staff, and other writers as available to generate relevant content. Edit and typeset draft posts for web, deploying HTML/CSS for design as necessary. REQUIREMENTS: - Minimum of two years of experience in digital media marketing, preferably for an independent publisher or a nonprofit organization - Intimate familiarity with the workflow and style native to content creation for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram; candidates with an active presence on all three platforms will be preferred - Basic working knowledge of Wordpress and HTML/CSS - Experience and facility working with Adobe products such as InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat - Strong organizational skills, high attention to detail, and ability to multi-task - Experience with Constant Contact or similar platform a plus - Ability to work proactively and independently and to set priorities within a deadline-driven environment PLEASE NOTE: CLMP's very mission is to ensure a vibrant and diverse literary landscape—persons of color and members of the LGBT community are particularly encouraged to apply.
