Summary
Yelp Reservations and Yelp Nowait are the easiest way to find a book a table at over 9,000 of your favorite restaurants nationwide. Our goal is to get you table at a restaurant you’ll love, no matter the day, time or how many people you’re dining with.
The Strategy & Operations Associate position is a unique role that is responsible for identifying and driving strategic and operational improvements of the entire Yelp Reservations & Yelp Nowait business by developing business metrics, analyzing data to uncover insights and process improvements, presenting findings in concise and digestible formats, and partnering with internal stakeholders to implement initiatives that grow the business. The ideal candidate will be a mix of right-brain and left-brain, with above average analytical skills combined with the ability to work collaboratively and solve complex business problems. The only constant will be change, so the ability to quickly digest new areas of interest and rapidly respond with a reasoned recommendation is a necessity. This position is full-time, based in San Francisco, CA and reports to our General Manager.
Responsibilities:
• Drive effective decision making by partnering with the General Manager and senior management team of Yelp Reservations and Yelp Nowait.
• Build, own, improve, report and present regularly on key strategic metrics and the financial model for the entire organization.
• Execute and/or provide oversight to high-importance projects, especially cross-functional initiatives that may not fall directly into any one department, but requires support and execution of each department.
• Manage and execute entire projects from start to finish including analysis (data gathering, modeling scenarios), getting buy-in on a plan, project management (plan timeline and dependencies, partnering with business owners and front-line employees), and presentation of results.
• Make informed and thoughtful decisions, and know when to escalate for further discussion.
Skills:
• Ability to play well with others. Impeccable interpersonal skills and proven track record of effectively interacting with senior management and front-line employees.
• Self-starter who won’t quit until the task at hand is complete, but savvy enough to know when to work smarter and when to work harder.
• Able to gather data (via SQL queries and asking the right questions to the right people), build a detailed and flexible Excel model, and draft/create/iterate on presentations that clearly deliver a point.
• Has a knack for seeking out problems that others may not know exist, validating their importance, and fixes them.
• Versatile and is just as comfortable in a financial model, a presentation and in speaking with customers.
Requirements:
• 3-6 years experience as an Analyst, Associate or Manager at a top tier consulting firm, investment bank, or private equity fund, or as a Product Manager at a leading technology company.
• Undergraduate degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Economics).
• Exceptional problem solver with the ability to transition between detailed data, high-level insights, operational implementation and customer conversations.
