Description
The Coordinator of Broadcast Operations will be a supportive and productive member of the “Live Integration Team.” This Coordinator will help communicate and facilitate all on/off scenarios, required by the live programming team, to the Broadcast Operations technical staff. This position will be responsible for setting up and communicating with the Studio/Remote Associate Directors and the Master Control Technical Directors, during all “live” transitions from program to program. In this role, the coordinator will be building and distributing Live Record Grids, Live Event Summaries, and any Discrepancy Reports necessary. This position will also be helping with the scheduling of the union labor for the associate director (AD) roles, for all required live events.
Responsibilities
• Supervise Live Sports, special events and execute contingency scenarios for the Live programming on all the cable networks. Execute day of air broadcast operations responsibilities, including fluid program scenarios for multiple network feeds during Live Sports on all cable networks.
• Help schedule daily hires and Closed Captioning vendor and request archive records for all events.
• Responsible for reporting discrepancies and variances, of the log, to the multiple cable clients. Compose and distribute “Live Event Summary” reports.
• Create and distribute the daily program grids for the live cable networks.
• Work with the Media services team to ensure that all programming content is received and accounted for, on a daily basis, for the Broadcast Operations team.
• Work with the “Live Integration Team” to develop more efficient and streamlined processes that will alleviate duplication of work.
• Assist with ongoing and projected On-Air Broadcast Operations requirements. Assist with special projects, as requested. Help implement new procedures and practices as required.
Qualifications
• College degree preferred. Broadcast Operations experience preferred, including Live Sports in a technical environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must display a high degree of accuracy, quick reasoning and attention to detail.
• Precise addition and subtraction of time (hours, minutes and seconds) is essential in being able to perform this position’s duties, as well as isolating feeds in multiple time zones.
• Ability to make creative and effective decisions in a very short period.
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office Software including Excel, Word and Outlook. Familiarity with On-Air Broadcast and Traffic systems.
• Equally comfortable in corporate office surroundings and fast paced, constantly changing technical broadcast environment.
• Required to work outside of normal business hours, including early morning / late evenings, weekends and holidays during Seasonal Sports and Special Live Events.
