The USA TODAY NETWORK seeks a leader to manage and expand our digital video syndication partnerships. This position requires a seasoned media pro who will help determine our distribution strategy and be responsible for the day-to-day operation of these partnerships.
Our newsrooms produce hundreds of videos each week. Help us make sure that original content reaches the broadest audience possible, in a way that drives new and incremental revenue for the company. You will work with a variety of distributors and licensors to leverage video content from our historical archives, day-to-day news coverage and new lifestyle verticals like Humankind.
The Director, Video Syndication will work with the VP Video Content & Strategy to ensure that we tailor our content offerings and workflows to maximize value: growing revenue through efficient and targeted allocation of resources.
Key Responsibilities:
We are looking for a confident, dynamic leader who will:
• Manage partnerships with digital distributors, platforms including, but not limited to: YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo, Yahoo!, DailyMotion, Hulu, etc.
• Collaborate with internal groups in developing digital strategy and driving revenue goals
• Design, support and improve the processes we use to deliver video to partners
• Grow digital video syndication revenue -- overall, but also by partner and by asset
• Study past performance, identifying and acting on trends to optimize future returns
• Be a thought leader with a deep understanding of this competitive marketplace, including positioning of other programmers, business models, offerings and new initiatives
Qualifications:
• 8+ years in digital video programming, content creation, distribution and management
• Bachelor’s degree required; MA/MBA preferred
• Thorough understanding of and direct experience with digital TV / OTT platforms
• Proven experience building, leading and scaling digital video production operations
• Superior relationship management skills
• Equally confident and articulate in technical, editorial and financial conversations
• Intimate knowledge of video formats, standards, encoding, transcoding and delivery
• History of developing and continuously improving processes and workflow to drive efficiencies
• Financial management acumen, capable of keeping costs from outpacing revenue
• Demonstrated ability to set aggressive goals and objectives, bring multiple parties together, and drive a cross-functional team to deliver results
• Able to effectively present and explain results with quantitative information
• Able to accurately handle multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment
• Detail-oriented with excellent organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Able to work well independently and as a member of a larger team
• Decisive with a bias towards action

Some domestic travel required, approximately 15%, often New York and Atlanta.
