We are looking for a Manager, Internal Audit for the Internal Audit team. You will thrive in a dynamic environment, passionate about music and technology, working proactively with business and engineering groups to mitigate risks and provide meaningful insights and solutions to improve the internal control environment and business operations.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience identifying and addressing financial, operational and compliance risks in business processes; evaluating and testing the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls; and designing and executing other assurance and business advisory services. You must be able to understand moderate to complex business processes and system workflows, and help guide business owners in defining effective and value-added risk mitigation plans.
The position, which reports to the Senior Manager, Internal Audit based in New York, and is part of an integrated team that believes that collaboration, flexibility, resourcefulness and attention to detail are keys to success.
What You’ll Do
• Participate in ongoing risk assessment process, and assist in developing and executing on Spotify’s audit plan.
• Prepare audit scope and objectives and develops audit programs by understanding the organization’s structure, policies, processes, internal controls, and applicable external regulations.
• Identify and assess risk and internal controls, evaluates manual and automated processes, identifies process weaknesses, inefficiencies and operational issues.
• Partner with management to develop action plans and monitors the issue tracking and resolution process.
• Plan and execute testing of controls, assess results, and develop meaningful recommendations for improvement which can be practically and effectively implemented by management given the existing business, control risks and other cost/benefit considerations.
• Perform special projects or ad-hoc assignments (e.g. advisory services, investigations, etc.) contributing risk and control expertise together with analytical and investigative skills.
• Communicate with and educate cross-functional business and engineering process owners on the importance of controls, an effective control environment, and the role of Internal Audit.
• Collaborate with the technology audit team members to ensure alignment on audit work, which includes coordination on the audit scope, work program, fieldwork and reporting.
Who You Are
• You have a bachelor degree with major in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration. CPA is strongly preferred, CIA and/or CISA is a plus.
• You have a minimum of 7 years of work experience with global public company, including 3+ years of recent experience with SOX. Experience from Big 4 Accounting firm is a merit.
• Significant experience working with SOX control frameworks such as testing and evaluating the design and operating effectiveness of business process controls. Experience with digital subscriptions, technology or ad media is a plus.
• Knowledge of internal control principles (e.g. COSO); financial, operational and compliance risks and processes; and IT general controls is required.
• Excellent organizational skills, strong communication skills (written and verbal), sound judgment in analyzing problems and risk.
• Ability to navigate through ambiguity, manage and coordinate multiple project assignments and multiple teams simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, accepting ownership and accountability of the process and deliver on commitments. Work must reflect a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail.
• Understanding of common SaaS applications supporting financial business processes (e.g. NetSuite, Coupa, Salesforce) is a merit, as is experience with analytical tools like ACL and Tableau.
• Some travel required.
