Required Skills:
The Brand function’s role is to act as a custodian of the IMAX Masterbrand and IMAX sub-brands, as well as ensuring all brand marketing and communications consistently embody IMAX’s values and tell a clear and compelling brand narrative for consumers across all touchpoints and channels, always differentiating IMAX from the competition in both their hearts & minds. It goes without saying you will be strategic, creative and ready for the challenge.
This opening is for a Brand Director in IMAX’s Playa Vista office. As a member of our Brand team, you will be responsible for leading brand marketing across a range of IMAX brand priorities. This is a hands-on, high-responsibility role that will challenge you to manage a diverse team of cross-functional peers as well as senior external stakeholders.
What you’ll be doing:
• Work with the EVP, Brand & Creative in evolving and codifying IMAX’s brand positioning, essence and brand platform
• Own the IMAX brand dashboard and proactively use insight to drive proposition improvements
• Demonstrate an ability to effectively manage multiple projects and prioritize work without missing critical deadlines and adapt to and mange changing priorities independently in a fast paced environment
• Unearth consumer insights and ensure deep consumer understanding and insight is at the center of all brand work
• Help define the IMAX brand architecture and any channel / product sub-brands
• Support brand strategy work to ensure consistency with the IMAX Masterbrand
• Review the marketing milestone process for all major through the line campaigns to ensure consistent brand values and tone of voice
• Create tools and processes to allow partner marketing teams to actively manage their respective brands effectively (e.g. briefing, brand planning, brand guideline books)
• Work closely with other functions (e.g. PR, Legal, Business Affairs, HR, Entertainment) to ensure IMAX brand positioning acts as a clear and coherent ‘lighthouse’ for the broader business strategy and operations
• Ensure that all best practice learnings are captured within case studies and incorporated in to relevant future brand strategic work
• Keep ahead of developments in the field of brand and brand agencies maintaining links with the industry and incorporating fresh research or approaches strategic work
• KPIs: Defining, tracking and driving IMAX metrics (‘Brand I Like’, brand passion, NPS) that have a clear measurable impact on the business’s performance
What we’re looking for:
• A proven track record (minimum 5 years) in developing and enhancing clear and compelling consumer brands, ideally within a consumer goods or media/entertainment environment
• Knowledge in brand proposition development with a track record of building a collection of compelling brands that are clearly differentiated in competitive markets
• Background in brand strategy, MBA a plus
• Expert PowerPoint or Keynote skills
• Demonstrable experience of having driven the strategic thinking around building a family of brands in a commercial context
• A strategic and analytical thinker as well as customer-centric marketing leader who can effectively leverage customer insights to shape the strategy and drive the agenda
• Ability to build deep understanding and insight into customer needs and preferences
• A proficient knowledge base of brand marketing focused KPI’s (e.g. ITP, NPS, brand passion) and research methodologies (qual & quant)
• A tireless and results driven mentality, able to continually critique and optimize performance
• The ability to operate autonomously but understands the importance of collaborationsA self-starter, happy to take initiative and make decisions
• A confident communicator and presenter
