Regional Business Director
The Regional Business Director oversees the activities of the regional business department and financial reporting for multiple broadcasting stations. This position maintains costs in relation to revenue and budget requirements to ensure stations operate at optimal operating profit level. The Regional Business Director collaborates with General Managers regarding decisions about capital expenditures, program purchases, etc., to maintain highest cash flow level possible.
Essential Job Functions:
40% - Prepares and/or reviews all monthly financial reports and supporting detail in a timely manner to meet reporting deadlines. Reviews and analyzes general ledger account reconciliations for accuracy and reasonableness. Approves vendor invoices and reviews detail of purchases, account number distribution and appropriate approvals from dept. heads and the General Managers. Works with the Credit Manager to ensure collectibility of accounts including review of monthly agings, approval of credit memos and bad debt write-offs. Works with station Accounting Managers to monitor monthly expenses and assists in re-forecast of future monthly expense for known variances. Reviews re-forecast of future monthly expenses and variances to budget with General Managers for each station. Oversees vendor trade files including contracts and support detail. Prepares/reviews operating expense and capital expenditure budgets.
Prepares/reviews audit schedules required for interim and final annual audits by the company’s internal and independent auditors. Maintains adequate internal controls to protect assets of the stations as required by SOX and Meredith Corporation policies. Negotiates contracts (building maintenance, landscape maintenance, talent, etc.) as necessary.
25% - Manages daily activities of Regional Business Office team. Provides coaching, training, development opportunities and performance management. Maintains personnel and payroll records in compliance with Federal and State labor laws, policies and procedures and corporate standards.
20% - Ensures accounting records are maintained in accordance with GAAP and industry standards. Prepares/reviews monthly and quarterly financial reports in accordance with corporate requirements.
10% - Provides General Managers with all financial information and/or reports for decision making relating to program expenditures, capital expenditures, personnel, etc. Provides guidance and support to General Managers with the interpretation of financial information, reports, policies, and compliance laws.
5% - Leads and participates in special projects as required. Other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience. CPA certification preferred.
Experience: Minimum of seven years experiences as business manager for a company or equivalent combination of accounting and business management experience. Two to four years successful management experience in a results-driven, deadline focused environment. In depth experience with monthly financial statement preparation, annual budgeting, and annual strategic planning.
Specific knowledge, skills and abilities: Thorough knowledge of GAAP, payroll and personnel procedures and laws, credit and collection procedures and applicable commercial credit laws,
Knowledge of computer spreadsheet programming.
Ability to meet deadlines.

Travel Required: Approximately 10%
