Role Summary
Under the general guidance of Director of Sales and Project Engineering, the Solutions Architect provides technical sales support, expertise and advice regarding GE’s services/products and system integration. The Solutions Architect responds to customer and sales inquiries, including RFI/RFQ/RFPs. In addition, the Solutions Architect manages sales leads/projects and serves as project manager until a contract is signed and handed over to operations for implementation. The Sales Engineer is also responsible for identifying new procedures in order to streamline the sales process. This position requires a unique blend of technical knowledge with sales skills.
Key Responsibilities
• Understanding and solving client problems. Managing and interpreting customer requirements
• Proactive liaison with sales team to provide timely responses to engineering requirements in the quotation process.
• Communicates with various levels of expert personnel at customer’s location to gather technical facts to support the quotation and contracting process.
• Creates network drawings, equipment lists and other items
• Meets deadlines for assigned projects, configuration and documentation for proposals
• Submits terrestrial circuit quote and provisioning requests to IT
• Calculating client quotations
• Offering pre and post sales support services
• Supporting marketing by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events
• Preparing technical presentations and demonstrating how a product will meet client needs
• Providing pre-sales technical assistance and product education
• Assists the Sales department with the creation of rate tables and pricing
• Maintains documentation on shared drive
• Makes recommendations regarding the financial and logistical feasibility of projects
• Identifies ways to improve and/or streamline the sales process
• Keeps up to date with all GE’s products and service offerings
• Assists Sales in presenting technical solutions at customer locations
• Uses the Salesforce/CRM for lead tracking, quote generation and order processing
• Assists IT with Experlogix database configuration
• Collaborates with Product Development department on roadmap initiatives
• Other related tasks as may be assigned.
Key Accountabilities:
• Standardization of solutions (80% target)
• Cost of customer solutions for Maritime
• Sales growth -Maritime vertical-(shared responsability)
• Sales order aging - Maritime vertical- (shared responsibility)
• Profitability by customer -Maritime vertical- (shared responsibility)
Training and Qualifications:
• BA or BS in a technical field or equivalent experience is required
• 3+ years’ experience in technical support or sales engineering role
• Strong technical aptitude and the ability to learn new technologies
• Knowledge of LAN/WAN, TCP/IP and general network theory is desired
• Knowledge of Cisco routers, satellite antennas and VOIP equipment is desired
• Cisco certification is desired but not required
• Ability to work independently under general guidance and deliver results
• Must be self motivated, responsible and punctual with a can-do attitude
• Able to maintain a professional demeanor under all circumstances when interacting with existing and potential customers
• Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to explain complex subject matter in simple but accurate terms
• Ability to work under pressure with aggressive deadlines.
• May require hands-on technical work in the office and in the field
