Starz is currently seeking a performance marketing insights and analytics leader to join the Insights and Analytics department. S/he will serve as a change agent in the company – developing and implementing strategies, techniques, and best practices to understand and optimize all direct to consumer acquisition and retention campaigns.
The candidate will be highly collaborative and work cross-functionally to help the marketing team achieve aggressive growth and retention targets. The role will serve as the primary department interface with the acquisition and retention team. The role is highly visible and includes senior management stakeholders within marketing and product.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the team in defining and managing strategic goals and deliverables across our marketing channels and track implementation success using data and analytics
• Support acquisition and retention teams with deep and actionable insights via dashboards, analysis and ad hoc reporting requests
• Provide informed recommendations for marketing executives and functional stakeholders regarding campaign creative and product attributes
• Optimize all levels of sales funnel via timely and insightful analytics
• Work closely with direct response agency to ensure every marketing dollar is spent as efficiently as possible – evaluate audiences and use complex models to assess optimal marketing mixes
• Work closely with Director, Consumer Analytics and Director, Consumption Analytics to fuse survey/sample based insights, consumption metrics, and paid insights campaigns to develop clear and actionable audience and creative recommendations
• Work with Exec Director, BI and Data Science in Insights and Analytics department to build descriptive analytics dashboards for all levels of organization, both within the marketing organization and among other departments.
• Lead KPI sessions both by way of data collection and presentation in an effort to communicate the performance of the streaming product(s)
• Contribute towards the creation of a data driven decisioning culture, by assisting those who need help accessing dashboards and helping them understand how the data relates to their day to day
• Proactively review numbers frequently, perform the analysis required to understand or narrow the cause and alert relevant groups/departments
Required Skills:
• College degree and equivalent work experience. Graduate degree preferred
• 5+ years in marketing analytics driving acquisition and retention, experience with video subscription business a plus
• 4+ years in relational database (e.g., SQL) and unstructured databases (e.g., HADOOP)
• 2+ years’ experience working with the major analytics and attribution platforms: Google Analytics, Tune, MixPanel, etc
• 2+ years’ experience working with data visualization and business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Cognos, etc
• 2+ years’ experience developing marketing channel attribution structures and methodologies
• Strong communications skills, including the ability to distill and relay data to a variety of audiences, including senior executives
• Excellent verbal and presentation skills, must be comfortable presenting to large audiences, capable to answering questions about the data to top executives
• History of ‘knowing the numbers’ able to tell when metrics are off and quickly bring to the attention of relevant individuals
• Proven success at using analytics to meet aggressive acquisition goals
• Deep understanding of optimization processes (e.g. A/B testing) and experimental design (e.g. identifying the variables, treatment structures, etc)
• Deep understanding of data structures, data ingestion/publishing methods, SQL, and consumption tracking techniques
• Experience working in corporate setting while having comfort with startup-like environment – experiment, fail fast, discern and share intelligence.
• Occasional travel to New York
