The position will be a key part of Sony Music Entertainment’s Global Playlisting, Consumer and Streaming Analytics team. This team focuses on generating actionable insights on how listeners consume content across platforms, and who those listeners are, with the goal of maximizing global digital revenue. The Analyst plays a crucial role in generating these insights regarding the performance of artist releases and broader consumer trends. This person will create compelling global analyses to be utilized by account managers and senior management to help drive sales, market share, and influence partner relationships for Sony Music.
Responsibilities
• Produce insightful analysis to push forward our understanding of how Sony repertoire is being consumed on digital music platforms
• Utilize internal data systems and analytics tools to synthesize data into custom insights
• Support Partner Development, Sales and Marketing teams with campaign and artist performance analysis to provide an understanding of what is and isn’t working
• Maintain a handful of recurring weekly reports for our top digital partners
• Design dashboards and custom reporting solutions to meet complex business needs in a streamlined and user friendly fashion
• Understand data sources and systems to ensure data integrity and report accuracy
• Interact with IT to resolve technical issues and implement enhancements/automation to sales reporting systems
• Influence internal stakeholders at all levels of the organization to take action based on insights to seize business opportunities
Qualifications
• 1-2 years post-university experience in an analytical role
• Music industry experience preferred, but not required. It is expected the candidate will be knowledgeable about how the music business operates and about the evolving digital landscape
• Analytical mindset - ability to identify trends in large datasets, display creativity in problem-solving, and generate new ideas
• Advanced Excel skills (Pivot tables, VLookups, etc.), experience in PowerPoint and experience with data analytics/visualization software (Tableau, QlikView, Looker, Alteryx, etc.)
• Functional SQL skills
• Ability to work with technical teams to define business requirements for automated reporting systems
• Highly organized and communicative team player who is detail oriented
• Ability to thrive in fast paced environment, manage multiple tasks at once and work to deadlines
• Passion for music and desire to build a career in the industry
