Insomniac’s premier annual event, Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas, is the largest multi-day music festival in North America, and attracted more than 400,000 fans over three days in June 2016. The company was founded by Pasquale Rotella, and has been based in Los Angeles since it was formed in 1993.
THE ROLE
The Creative Director is responsible for ensuring the consistent, high quality of every piece of visual communication that leaves the office. Leading by hands-on example, he or she is an exemplary role model for the designers. This position reports to the Creative Director of Merchandise.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Build and nurture a team of talented designers that is capable of creating the finest possible visual communications, on time, and to brief
• Provide design direction and support to the design team, whilst also taking on some high profile projects him or herself
• Ensure that the design team works in the most efficient manner, whilst providing individual team members with opportunities to develop their specific skills
• Nurture and encourage the development of skill sets wherever possible
• Meet department goals by delivering on time, delivering on budget, and reduce and limiting
• Manage production workflow and team resourcing within budget and timing constraints
• Coach and oversee Art Director, provide mentoring and feedback, and regularly review the work of senior design staff
• Ability to create original materials or others based on existing style guides to fit brand image
• Develop systems, processes and initiatives that ensure that all projects meet a consistently high standard
• Lead brainstorms, especially with regards to the visual and tactical execution of ideas
• Some travel (economy)
QUALIFICATIONS
• 5-6 years design experience
• 3-4 years experience managing a team of designers
• Proficient knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite – Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.
• Hierarchy/Layout/Typography skill set
• Knowledge of color theory and balance
• Responsible of upholding design and brand standards
• Brainstorm with marketing team and ability to collaborate with various teams to conceptualize creative graphic communications fulfilling project objectives
• A strong portfolio of personal design work, demonstrating flair, creativity and a broad range of design skill
• Experience working with leading brands, and a strong understanding of the nuances involved when working within guidelines
• Must be able to provide creative direction in the writing, branding, graphic design and user experience disciplines
• Strong, motivational leadership skills
• Must be able to thrive in a unique, high-pressure environment, and juggle many jobs and responsibilities at one time
• Must be motivated with an “Everything is possible” attitude
• Must be an active problem solver, instilled with a sense of urgency for projects large and small
WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Must be able to tolerate loud noise levels & busy environments
• May work in drastic temperature climates
• Must be willing to work during evening and weekend hours, as required, to meet deadlines
