Position Overview
The Marketing/PR Copywriter position will report to the Creative Director and will partner closely with dynamic cross-functional teams of marketers, designers and other communication colleagues, all working together to bring our team’s ideas to life. The Copywriter will often be the first point of contact with the client and will set the tone for the beginning concept work related to a project. Excellent project and time management skills are essential.
We are looking for someone who can:
• Produce memorable concept based headlines and body copy that has the ability to inspire, educate, and motivate our various audiences (internal and external)
• Can create on a deadline
• Collaborate with creative partners to conceive and create big, innovative campaigns and marketing ideas and that can live across all channels and platforms
• Uphold our brand standards and unique brand voice across all channels.
• Take complex concepts and topics and bring them to life simply and beautifully
• Write compelling copy for a variety of objectives and mediums including print, digital and social advertising, website copy, email newsletters, invitation and event messaging, and media materials
• Develop strong relationships with our internal clients and effectively communicate their needs to the rest of the team
• Understand and incorporate organizational and creative objectives into their work
• Set and meet realistic deadlines and milestones for multi-faceted projects

We’re looking for an experienced advertising/marketing/PR Copywriter to work with our team to develop ideas and creative concepts, leading the copywriting efforts for our advertising campaigns as well as for other communications events and programs. Someone who’s up to the challenge of telling the WGBH story in the most compelling, and engaging ways possible. A creative thinker who is passionate about our brands and knows how to say a lot in few words.
Skills Required
• Previous experience as an advertising Copywriter, preferably at an agency with campaign experience.
• A portfolio featuring work examples. Must include advertising and campaign work as well as creative branding work and marketing campaigns (online and offline)
• Experience writing for a brand, brand positioning, and brand voice
• Experience in a advertising/marketing/public relations settings
• Proven experience developing ideas from inception to launch
• The ability to accept and incorporate feedback while maintaining the integrity of the ideas
• Proven ability to lead creation of copy for a variety of audiences, brands, and industries
• Strong copy editing and proofreading skills (copy test may be given during interview)
• Strong communication skills - ability to interface with clients as well as work with teams internally
• An understanding of visual design, and an appreciation of the interplay between copy and design.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree required.
