The Local Development and Marketing department (LDM) enables the WGBH Educational Foundation to carry out its mission by raising necessary funds from individuals for current program support and special projects for all TV, Radio, and the Web. LDM oversees fundraising and relationship building through direct response campaign solicitations for all WGBH affiliated TV and Radio Stations.
Due to rapid developments in the media landscape and overall challenges for public media stations, WGBH has created “best in class” direct marketing programs and other fundraising initiatives which are offered as turnkey solutions to other PBS stations. These services, offered through the Member Services Bureau, allow local stations to free up their limited resources and focus on local engagement.
Position Overview
WGBH’s Local Marketing and Development department is looking for a Project Specialist to join our fast-paced and expanding team. This is a high visibility position with significant learning and growth potential.
Reporting to the Project Director, the Project Specialist will develop and execute project plans and timelines for new client implementations and other small to medium sized projects. The Project Specialist will drive these projects forward by creating strong, team oriented relationships and working with internal and external stakeholders.
A typical day would include interaction with clients and cross functional teams in our technology, operations and marketing departments, and managing project plans to ensure progress. Success is measured by timely delivery of our products and solutions to client stations.
Other activities include:
• Track and monitor project progress to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, and that all requirements are met.
• Conduct weekly meetings with internal teams and clients to review completed and upcoming tasks, and update plans and schedules to reflect most current information.
• Interact daily with internal teams and clients to ensure timely and accurate completion of project deliverables.
• Schedule and attend status meetings, prepare meeting minutes and follow up on resulting action items.
• Identify process gaps, issues or bottlenecks that cause scheduling delays and work with Project Director and cross functional teams to resolve.
• Maintain and update project management software, project documents and templates.
• Monitor, measure, and report on project progress to management and stakeholders.
• Recommend changes in project management processes and strategies.
• Ensure effective, timely, and consistent communication with internal staff and clients.
The ideal candidate will be:
• A motivated self-starter; able to work independently with minimal direction and supervision

• Able to juggle multiple competing projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
• A team player with great interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Skills Required
• 1-3 years relevant experience in a project management or coordinator capacity with proven track record of successful project implementation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, Outlook, Powerpoint required
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent multitasking, time management and organization skills
• Experience with project management software preferred
• Agency, direct marketing, fundraising and/or public media experience a plus
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree required.
