Overview
HarperCollins Publishers is seeking an Associate Sales Rep for the Special Markets department. The Special Markets department sells all HarperCollins titles to the specialty marketplace. This role requires close work with a team of commission sales reps. to coordinate the selling and marketing of adult and children’s titles to accounts within the special sales market channels (specialty retail and wholesale).
Sales Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain relationships with customers and commission reps in territory
• Achieve budgeted revenue in their areas of focus
• Manage and develop incoming sales leads and maintain sales with accounts and work with department members to implement creative marketing and sales strategies to expand and develop new business
• Create regional and topical focus list and presentations for commission reps and accounts
• Prepare for and attend internal and external sales meetings and launches
• Research and develop new business opportunities for new and backlist titles.
• Coordinate Gift Show set up and promotional materials and marketing for shows.
• Travel to and attend seasonal Gift Shows and sales meetings when necessary and agreed upon with supervisor.
Administrative Responsibilities:
• Provide administrative support including, but not limited to: new account management, customer service management and coordination for reps and accounts, processing account orders, and general telephone coverage. Must be able to work independently and cover for internal sales reps when they are out of the office.
• Provide sales reporting to customers and commission sales reps upon request
• Respond to queries from customers and commission sales reps relating to title information, covers, samples and more.
• Prepare sales materials for commission reps groups and customers, including the creation of printed Gift Catalogs for the Specialty Retail channel.
• Manage mailing projects, and seasonal rep kit creation and distribution
• Prepare posts for commission rep website, and create ecards and like materials for accounts and reps alike.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
• 2 years of relevant sales experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to set priorities under pressure
• Must be extremely detail-oriented and well-organized
• Solid computer skills including advanced command of Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint
• Ability to travel to trade shows and sales meetings on occasion
• Strong interest in Publishing
