The Systems Department is looking for an intern for our Data Analytics and Optimization team. We want a Data Scientist / Data Engineer that will help us discover the information hidden in vast amounts of data. Pixar has large quantities of structured and unstructured data, thousands of render servers that access this data in various ways, and large quantities of meta¬data describing these access patterns. Your primary focus will be to uncover compute and IO patterns across our vast Rendering Pipelines leading to more sophisticated automation and anomaly detection ¬ and better movies!
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Data mining and discovery using state of the art methods
• Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis
• Doing adhoc analysis and presenting results in a clear manner
• Selecting features, building and optimizing classifiers using machine learning techniques
• Creating automated anomaly detection systems and constant tracking of its performance
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Data oriented personality who loves to discover, break, build, and optimize
• Applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc
• Scripting and programming skills in one or more modern programing language such as Python, GO
• Familiarity with opensource data analysis and machine learning software, such as pandas, scikitlearn, and Tensor Flow
• Experience with streaming analytics and streaming environments, such as Kafka, Kinesis, etc
• Experience with data indexing and search tools like ElasticSearch, Splunk, etc
• Experience with KV stores and distributed caches such as Redis, MongoDB and memcached
• Familiarity with modern Linux kernels, performance tools, and tracing facilities
ELIGIBILITY:
• Must be at least a junior in college working towards a Bachelor’s degree or greater; Recent grads who are within one year of graduation are also eligible to apply
• Must provide a short personal statement (200 words or less) explaining why you are specifically interested in working in Data Analytics at Pixar
• Must be available to work full-time Mon – Fri for 12 weeks between June 2018 – August 2018
