Job Description:
Job Summary
The Senior Accountant will assist in the preparation of the company’s financial statements and ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. The senior accountant will report to the Accounting Manager.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• 50% Perform monthly closing procedures, as assigned. This includes performing and/or reviewing account reconciliations and journal entries.
• 20% Prepare, review, analyze and communicate financial, accounting and statistical information
• 5% Review assigned areas of responsibility for continuous process improvement.
• 5% Responsible for monitoring, evaluating and implementing internal controls over areas of responsibility.
• 5% Respond to ad-hoc reporting, analysis and special assignments, as needed.
• 5% Investigate and research accounting questions related to internal and external reporting issues to ensure that financial activity is recorded in a manner consistent with the Company’s policies and procedures and GAAP
• 5% Assist in training others as needed in the Finance Group
• 5% Review and code invoices to be processed for payment
Supervisory Responsibilities
• None
Knowledge and Skills Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required
• 4+ years of Accounting experience
• Proficient in Excel and experience with Great Plains or other G/L system a plus
• Experience in the media industry is a plus but not a necessity
• Detailed oriented and have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
• Be proactive and self-motivator with the ability to learn quickly
• Possess a desire to learn and be challenged
• Solid communication skills and be able to work with all members of the organization and all levels of management
• Be able to work independently
Certificates, licenses and registrations
• CPA a plus
