Job Summary:"Summary - Leads radio operations for the Baltimore market
Responsibilities:
• Protect the licenses of the radio stations by understanding and implementing all FCC broadcast rules and regulations.
• Work directly with Engineering and Information Technology Department to ensure technical compliance of all operations of radio stations.
• Manage and lead a programming team that meets or exceeds on-air and on-line goals by creating and implementing listener experiences using iHeartMedia’s multiple content delivery platforms: on-air, on-line, on-site and through mobile devices .
• Hire, train, coach and develop an innovative programming, on-air and on-line staff.
• Provide operational counsel to stations with emphasis on productivity, cost, technology and production capabilities.
• Maintain a hands on approach in the areas of content strategy, talent management and promotion execution.
• Analyze ratings on a regular basis to reinforce or alternate strategy.
• Conduct regular staff meetings, both full and individual, to inform of directions and procedures of Company.
• Maintain current knowledge of trends in research, music and imaging.
• Understand and monitor market conditions in order to be proactive in strategy.
• Assist in creation and execution of all external marketing plans.
• Ensure commitment to community service through involvement in Local Advisory Board, partnerships with key sectors in the community and airing of Public Service Announcements.
• Communicate with Market President and Market Controller to adhere to budgeted operational costs .
• Work with Senior Vice President of Sales (and/or Integrated Media Sales Manager and IM support staff) to ensure sales team is delivering integrated media solutions for advertisers.
• Partner with Revenue Manager to develop strategy that optimizes inventory mix to create a positive listening experience.
• Develop and maintain an atmosphere for a high performing team . Create an environment that encourages problem solving, fosters creativity, rewards performance and instills accountability.
• Cultivate an atmosphere that embraces change in a positive manner.
Qualifications:
• Experience in brand marketing and sales.
• Extensive knowledge of current FCC broadcast rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of federal, state and local contesting rules and regulations.
• Experience using research tools to analyze listener ratings data .
• Knowledge of Nielson PPM and/or Diary data analysis.
• Working knowledge of Nexgen software.
• Knowledge and appreciation for diverse music formats.
• Have an excellent on-air performance for programming and production.
• Three (3) years of experience in managing and directing a programming team.
• Have sound judgment and quality decision making skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a deadline-oriented business.
• Be highly organized, and comfortable delegating responsibility.
• Flexible, creative, and innovative in using technology to deepen listener relationships.
• A proven record for motivating programming teams as well as sales and marketing teams.
• Ability to think both tactically and strategically.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
• Possess superior communications and interpersonal skills, both written and oral.
• Entrepreneurial and assertive in meeting goals.
• Proficient in setting expectations with others while managing performance.
• Capability to provide honest coaching and adjust communications style based on audience needs.
