Senior Director Data Discipline
Job Summary:
The Data Discipline is a practice of over 150 professionals in North America dedicated to the enablement and advancement of client data solutions. The discipline consists of Data Analysts, Data Scientists, Data Strategists, Data Engineers and Data Platform Specialists.
The Data Discipline is a custom analytics, research, development and consulting team that delivers data driven strategic marketing insights and builds appropriate systems for our clients. Each member of the team is aligned to one or more clients and works closely with other Data team members, our clients and colleagues across other disciplines such as: Client Management, Search, Media, Strategy, User Experience, Technology and Creative.
The Sr. Director of the Data Discipline provides strategic vision, expertise, education, and leadership in the development of consumer-focused data-driven solutions for SapientRazorfish clients. The Sr. Director partners with the National Data leadership team and East Region leadership to drive sales strategies, to develop intellectual property, and to win new business. S/he manages a portfolio of clients and delivers innovative and effective data-driven solutions for clients while evangelizing analytics and data science.
Primary Responsibilities
• Manage the successful delivery of data engagements across a large Tier 1 client or a portfolio of clients
• Lead and mentor a team within the Data Discipline, supporting in organizational design, team recruiting, team operations and growth of the Data Discipline
• Foster industry-leading capabilities and drive innovation
• Active participation and leadership in the National and East Data leadership team, leading and supporting cross-discipline initiatives to strengthen the region’s people, culture, clients, operations, and solutions
• Support knowledge sharing and education across Data Discipline and agency
• Generate thought leadership in the form of white papers, insight pieces and/or POVs for internal and external distribution
• Business development and client pursuits within the region and collaboration across the company as needed to win new business
• Evaluation of and partnership with external vendors and technologies as appropriate
• Passion for digital analytics, working with data and deriving insights to answer client business questions
• Strong knowledge of the digital space and digital analytics including the vendors and testing methodologies and approaches
• Clear perspective on and experience in working with some of all of the following: online advertising, channel marketing, strategic marketing, off-line advertising/media, multitouch attribution, ad servers, dynamic creative optimization, 3rd party data sources, ad exchanges, web analytics platforms, competitive monitoring tools, social analytics tools, statistical tools, predictive modeling, cluster analysis, lifetime value analysis, etc.
• Strong analytical, project management, storytelling and communication skills
• Organizationally and operationally savvy
• Strategic, dynamic, and accessible leader able to manage, coach and mentor team members
• Thinks critically and strategically to set direction and guide innovation in product management, project management, and resource management
• Effectively collaborates on pitch teams, able to develop compelling capability presentations and deliver dynamic presentations that demonstrate the value of our practice and solutions
• Relationship builder with internal teams and clients/prospects at the CMO, CTO and other senior levels
• Able to translate complex analytics/data sciences concepts in terms that are easily understood and accessible to clients at various levels of seniority and sophistication with the material
• Quickly masters new disciplines, concepts, and technologies
• Advanced statistical analysis
• Research methodologies, benefits and limitations
Experience Guidelines:
• MBA or comparable with focus on quantitative field
• 10+ years in marketing analytics and/or advertising strategy
• 5+ years in a client services/professional services organization
• 5+ years of experience in digital marketing
Educational Requirements:
• Bachelors degree in marketing, communications or general business.
