Director, Marketing, Knopf
The Knopf Doubleday Group seeks a creative and dynamic individual to join as their Director of Marketing for the Knopf, Pantheon & Schocken imprints, reporting to and working in partnership with the SVP, Associate Publisher.
This key role is a unique and rare opportunity to help shape the strategy for one of the most highly regarded lists in the industry, a list that includes Michael Ondaatje, Haruki Murakami, Toni Morrison, Alex Ross, Camille Paglia, Carl Hiaasen, Jo Nesbo, Cheryl Strayed, Larry Wright, Edwidge Danticat, Chimamanda Adiche, Orhan Pamuk, Joan Didion, Kazuo Ishiguro, Cormac McCarthy, Karen Russell, Nathan Englander, Anne Tyler, Jhumpa Lahiri, Richard Russo, Patti Smith, Alice Munro, Jane Smiley, Dave Eggers, Yaa Gyasi, Chris Ware, Sheryl Sandberg, among many many others.

You are:
• A voracious and passionate reader
• A practical, working title marketer who makes use of all of the tools available, and also brings new ideas and opportunities to the table
• Creatively driven, plugged into the retail and consumer marketplace, with a commitment to actively court both new and established readers
• Strongly focused on broadening the reach of each title, searching for and creating new avenues and venues to use to market our list.
• A leader who encourages experimentation, while at the same time upholds the goals, excellence and elegance that are the hallmarks of our organization
• A collaborator, working with publicity, editorial, sales, among others, to ensure maximum outreach for each of our books
• Able to effectively and clearly communicate marketing strategy and vision to stakeholders (editors, authors, agents, readers) and team.
• A colleague who builds highly effective relationships, throughout the organization
• A mentor, and role model, both encouraging and challenging staff
• A manager, taking care to shepherd titles, staff, promotional budgets and plans
• Financially savvy, able to make a budget bend, stretch and contract

• An understanding of the Knopf, Pantheon & Schocken imprints and their aesthetics
• Professionalism, diplomacy, and a sense of humor a must
