Scientific American is looking for a dedicated, deadline and detail oriented Email Marketing Manager with experience in behavior driven email automation, eCommerce marketing communications and email list development. Working with the B2C Product and Marketing team the Email Marketing Manager will focus on growth and maintenance of SA’s email list health as well as developing targeted segments for personalized email campaigns, while optimizing open and conversion rate.

Key tasks:
• Develop strategy for behavior driven automated email campaigns including developing success goals and behavior workflows
• Create queries and custom segments for email marketing campaigns
• Sets list engagement, cleanup and fatigue guidelines
• Edit responsive email templates, create automation workflows and event triggers designed to progress users through the customer lifecycle with an aim to maximize engagement and sales
• Programmatically onboard, reengage, up-sell and cross-sell our products to customers based on user behaviors/events
• Analyze current email marketing campaigns and making recommendations for improvement
• Conduct A/B and MV tests on email campaigns to establish the most effective approach
• Ensure all email campaigns comply with current email best practice in the industry and render correctly for the major email providers/clients
• Develop off-boarding and opt-down strategy to improve customer retention and opt out rate with a goal to maintain list health
• Work Marketing Team Lead to develop marketing strategy, set campaign goals, revenue targets and KPIs including automated email campaign goals
• Work with Marketing Team to support audience acquisition goals and lead development
Key relationships:
• Product Development team stakeholder for email/ecommerce messaging feature development
• NRG B2C Marketing Team for campaign development and execution
• Digital Analyst for sales reporting and KPI analysis
• Digital Marketing Manager for email copy
• Art Department for campaign asset creating and development
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in marketing/business/communications-related discipline or similar experience
• Minimum two years of experience in email marketing ideally within a publishing industry or content sales/marketing with responsive email development and understanding of best practices
• Email Provider experience with platforms like Hybris, Silverpop, Constant Contact etc
• Proficient in HTML/CSS/JS with understanding of the limitations for each in the context of email applications
• Must be an analytical thinker with a detail orientation, and be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, project management and organizational skills are essential
