We have a ground-level opportunity for you to contribute to our growth as a Sales Manager responsible for selling to institutions across the United States. Be one of the first to join our Higher Education Sales team.
In this exciting role, you will drive sales through the adoption of Penguin Random House titles and digital solutions for use in the higher education market. Additionally, you will be integral to processing desk and exam copies of our titles for instructors, qualifying these requests for sales opportunities each day.
Specific responsibilities include:
1. Securing relationships with decision makers and influencers, including bookstores, departmental assistants, instructors, professors, department chairs, and committees as sales opportunities unfold.
2. Demonstrating strong subject-matter expertise to assist educators in identifying appropriate content options and solutions for program courses.
3. Developing a strong sales pipeline for PRH titles by understanding target markets and following through on sales leads.
4. Supporting accounts in all aspects related to customer service and troubleshooting to ensure a positive customer experience.
5. Processing Desk and Exam copies of Penguin Random House books for use in courses at colleges and universities throughout the United States.
6. Creating “Opportunities” in our CRM platform to initiate the sales process and ensure accurate tracking.
7. Mastering our “sampling” platforms, both digital and print to ensure swift fulfillment of orders.
8. Demonstrating and training customers on the use of our eBook and Courseware technology.
9. Engaging in book-mapping exercises for title recommendations for key adoptions.
10. Executing calls on coordinated campaigns in collaboration with various marketing teams.
11. Developing actionable daily and weekly plans utilizing standardized tools to ensure school coverage.

• Minimum of 3 years of related experience
• A passion for books and an understanding of their place in education
• Highly organized with the ability to prioritize multiple projects
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
• Highly motivated with the proven ability to work well independently
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Ability to travel occasionally to customer or internal meetings as needed
• Knowledge of SAP, Salesforce, and Concur a plus
• Prior publishing sales experience is strongly preferred
