Insomniac’s premier annual event, Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas, is the largest multi-day music festival in North America, and attracted more than 400,000 fans over three days in June 2016. The company was founded by Pasquale Rotella, and has been based in Los Angeles since it was formed in 1993.
THE ROLE:
Insomniac is seeking an editorial intern for the semester. If you're interested in getting hands-on experience in an exciting, fast-paced, friendly and inspired setting, then this opportunity is for you. Those selected should be eager to learn, adept at generating unique editorial pitches, possess a flair for writing in a knowledgeable, humorous and engaging voice, and most importantly, have an active interest in electronic music and its surrounding culture.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interns will work closely with the editorial team to create content for Insomniac’s online properties and festival brands. Those selected will have the opportunity to work on a variety of tasks and assignments, including but not limited to writing articles, transcribing and fact checking interviews, performing internet research, writing captions for social media posts, and uploading content to our CMS. This internship will report directly to the Director of Content Development.
• Creation of original content for news items, lists and small features
• Interview transcription and data entry
• Fact-checking and research for news items and feature stories
• Copywriting for marketing announcements and media materials
• Caption writing for social media posts
• Database maintenance and contributor outreach
• Active participation in editorial meetings and brainstorming sessions
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be 18 years of age and currently enrolled in an accredited college, university or trade school
• Must provide documentation from school that you will be receiving college credit for internship
• Content Development and editorial experience preferred
• Must be able to work out of Beverly Hills, CA office at least two days a week for four hours each day
• Typical commitment is 10-16 hours per week
• Must be motivated with an “Everything is possible” attitude
• Must be an active problem solver, instilled with a sense of urgency for projects large and small
• Knowledge of dance music and Insomniac’s brands
WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Must be able to tolerate loud noise levels & busy environments
• May work in drastic temperature climates
• Must be willing to work during evening and weekend hours, as required, to meet deadlines
