The Director of Network Billings and Audit is responsible for the all TV production revenue and cash inflows for Sony Pictures Television Productions. This position is responsible for all financial and accounting functions as is related to production billing, revenue and receivables inclusive of budgeting, forecasting/cash flows, mid-range planning, accounts receivable accounting, banking and studio billing. The Director of Network Billings and Audit will work directly with the Production Executives, Producers, Associate Producers, Production Managers, Coordinators, Production Accountants as well as with vendors, clients, Finance Management and Business Affairs, Studio Payroll and AP and be responsible to bill and collect all TV production receivables for respective TV shows.
Responsibilities
• Manage all financial aspects of cash inflows to SPT: including budgeting, cash flows, cash tracking, variance analysis, forecasting receivables and revenue for television production -License Fee, Breakage, Partners Share of Co-production deficit, residual, escalation, development, pre-production, production, and post production cost reimbursements.
• Prepare calculations for all revenue based on contractual terms with various networks and studios. Ensure timeliness of billing and calculations inclusive of collection and audit.
• Work with Business Affairs to implement contractual language for billing and collections.
• Negotiate payments from networks and customers based on weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual deliverables.
• Responsible for all TV bank accounts inclusive of bank reconciliations. Responsible for monitoring balances of production bank accounts and coordinating information to Treasury, SGBS banking team and the related banking representatives.
• Knowledge of foreign currency and related production accounting for multiple shows and currencies.
• Responsible for Studio Cost billing to respective shows and the reconciliation of those costs with respective show accountants.
• Negotiate production audits with various networks/studios to collection and proper accounting.
• Responsible for all Sox documentation as it relates to receivables, bank reconciliations and banking controls.
• Assist with 3rd party auditors as they related to revenue recording and cash receipts
Requirements
Experience
• 10+ years TV Production Accounting experience is required
• BA/BS degree in accounting/finance
• Ability to read and interpret complex agreements and guild contracts
• Knowledge of all aspects of production and post production and billing
• Knowledge of TV Network-Broadcast/Cable/Digital and their respective billing procedures and policies
Skills
• Strong knowledge of TV production from development to the post production stage
• Ability to interpret complex business agreements and perform calculations for revenue and billing
• Strong working knowledge of WGA, DGA, SAG/AFTRA and the calculation of production cost reimbursement as they deal with these guilds.
• Understanding and working knowledge of residuals
• Understanding of IA contract and the calculation of escalations and guild mandated agreements.
• Strong Interpersonal Skills
• Ability to deal with many layers of management and production at various networks and studios
• Ability to understand and communicate to production personnel on production issues impacting cost reimbursements
• Strong production accounting / production audit experience and knowledge
• Ability to negotiate and collect on complex agreements and interpretation of deals
• Proactive leader who has strong follow-through on all projects; ability to bring projects to timely completion
• Ability to interface with all levels of senior management
• Ability to quickly grasp new concepts
• Ability to problem-solve
• Detail-oriented; strong organizational, analytical skills
• Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Advanced MS Excel/Access knowledge
• Working Knowledge and prior experience with SAP/Vista is needed
