Summary
The Director, Creative Strategy is responsible for the development of breakthrough creative ideas and effective strategic solutions for agency clients and business partners. This is a client facing role that works collaboratively across multiple accounts as a senior member of cross-functional project teams. Providing leadership to both won projects as well as on new business opportunities, responsibilities for the position include: overseeing discovery and background research, developing key insights and agency POVs, crafting creative and strategic briefs, facilitating group ideation sessions, preparing measurement / ROI plans, and developing brand activation / experience strategies. Ultimately the Creative Strategist is responsible for the creation of remarkable solutions that “go beyond” and exceed client expectations and needs.
Responsibilities
• Inspire, lead and collaborate with an existing team of strategists under your supervision
• Provide management and mentorship for creative strategy team with a focus on agency growth and individual team member development
• Uncover key insights that can be used to develop strategies and solutions that meet and exceed client objectives
• Lead ideation and strategy development on assigned business opportunities
• Serve as a senior member of cross-functional project “ninja” teams on the development and execution of client projects
• Ensure that client brand experiences are designed and produced according to strategic concept and true to the brand’s principles
• Ability to think across channels to develop 360 marketing strategies that integrate digital, social media, branded content, media, mobile, PR, etc.
• Oversee and assist in the creation of beautiful and compelling pitch presentations
• Pitch new business presentation to clients with other senior team members
• Delegate responsibilities to junior members of the creative strategy team
• Provide mentorship, guidance, and support the development of creative strategy team members
• Contribute to agency thought leadership
• Ability to work under pressure on difficult assignment and tight deadlines
Qualifications
• 8-15 years of relevant experience with a demonstrated track record of success
• Experience in a senior creative strategic role providing services within a marketing firm, creative agency or relevant organization
• Experience inspiring and supervising a team in a fast paced always evolving business environment
• Experience leading day-to-day strategy for key clients
• Digital and social media strategy experience is a plus
• Bachelor or Master’s degree in marketing, communication, advertising or relevant liberal arts discipline is a plus
• Strong verbal presentation / storytelling skills, presentation building / design skills
• Superior writing skills and excellent interpersonal relationship building skills
• Experience in research, measurement, and analysis is a plus
• Proficient with presentation / design software (i.e. Apple Keynote, Adobe Photoshop)
• Comfortable with public speaking and delivering presentations
• Demonstration of key competencies: accountability for business results, client focused, team effectiveness and creative thinking
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
