Our Opportunity:
The Promotions & Marketing Director will lead and manage promotions staff, coordinate and implement all on-air, off air, on-the-street and digital promotions and events in order to promote the stations’ image and brand presence in the marketplace and primary demographic while maintaining a winning onsite image. This position requires a high degree of organizational skills, attention to detail, time management and a personal disposition that works well with creative co-workers in both programming and sales.
Other responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Maintain high quality customer service to all clients, listeners, performers, community officials, competitors and colleagues at all times
• Must be professional with a customer focus. All employees are expected to bring a positive attitude to the workplace and be cheerful, cooperative and productive; interact with listeners and clients with a customer service mentality
• Working with our Sales, Programming and Digital departments to develop successful promotional concepts for all stations.
• Direct planning, preparation, logistics and execution of station promotions, appearances, remote broadcasts, special events, sponsor coordination, contesting, contest rules, production and securing promotional prizes as needed.
• Ensuring station and customer content is included as promised for all on-air, on-the-street and digital marketing efforts and always reflects the station brand in a positive and relevant manner.
• Create and execute promotional events and contests within departmental budget
• Negotiate and purchase collateral and other promotional items
• Develop strategic relationships with entertainment and event venues to benefit the stations
• Work with local charities to the mutual benefit of the community, the charity and the stations
• Recruit, hire, train and supervise support personnel and interns
• Provide regular coaching and performance feedback to staff
• Coordinate and draft all sales and station promotions from conception to facilitation
• Contests, giveaways, station websites and on-site events and appearances including paid client events and charity endeavors
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Minimum 3 years experience in media promotions and marketing, radio preferred
• Proficient using computers and Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Photoshop
• Knowledge, understanding and become proficient using the Vpromotions Promotions Management system
• Possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license with an excellent driving record
• Must be able to lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds
• The physical ability to stand for long periods of time and perform manual labor
• College degree preferred; Marketing or Communications a plus. High school diploma or equivalent is required
• Knowledge of all applicable FCC rules and regulations
• Understanding of stations’ programming strategies
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Problem-solving ability and skill in prioritizing
• Ability to interact with management and staff at all levels
• Ability to multi-task and handle pressures and deadlines
