We are looking for a Director of Social and PR Strategy to join our Winston-Salem Social Media team.
We are looking for a hungry, passionate and talented individual to join our team. The ideal candidate is someone who has an extensive background leading social strategy and PR leadership experience for brands within an agency environment.
The Director of Social and PR strategy will lead a cross-functional team of to oversee all efforts related to the management of a brand’s social media presence, PR and/or social event opportunities and all of the editorial content that is published among that presence. We need someone who can step in and build both high level social strategies as well as execute against them and manage a team of community managers, content developers, PR specialist. The candidate should also be fearless when it comes to media relations and prioritizes the role PR plays within integrated creative campaigns.
The Ideal Candidate
• Leader. You have significant experience leading a team focused on social media content and as part of that have direct management experience overseeing a team of community managers, social media managers, etc.
• Strategic. You have extensive digital and social media strategy experience as well as a strong understanding of content strategy. You have spearheaded the development of a comprehensive social strategy before and know how to integrate with brand planners and paid media planners to ensure social is fully integrated.
• Social Media Savvy. You are active on every social platform. You can explain how each platform is different from each other and can explain that as part of a strategic recommendation. You are typically the go-to expert for all things social media in your current agency or marketing department.
• Opinionated and Vocal. You are vocal in a room. You know how to add value to an ongoing conversation among clients and/or colleagues by articulating your POV clearly. You can quickly understand a strategic or creative concept and envision the role that social media can play and discuss it on the fly.
• Creative. You know how to tell a story and are skilled at looking at a raw creative concept and figuring out how it could best manifest itself in social media. You have experience partnering with creative teams and helping them blow their ideas out and can hold your own in a creative discussion. You never lose sight of the bigger picture and fight for the best creative ideas.
• Self-Motivated. You are confident and never shy away from a challenge. You work well with teams and direction, but know how to adapt and figure out how to solve problems on your own as well.
Job Responsibilities
• Lead a cross-functional team responsible for the social media and PR efforts associated with larger integrated advertising campaigns AND for the evergreen editorial content that is published among a brand’s social presence.
-Lead the development, execution, and ongoing optimization of a comprehensive digital and social strategy for a brand.
• Develop pitch strategies and press outreach strategies and plans.
• Directly manage a team of community managers and social media managers.
• Vocal advocate for digital and social media efforts as part of a larger integrated agency team working for the brand.
-Lead yearly account planning and execution of all public relations programs for B2C and B2B clients
• Primary strategic counterpart to all social media clients and pr clients.
• Partner with analytics team for all performance reporting to provide context and insight to performance reports against pre-defined KPIs.
• Be the go-to expert for all things social media (platforms, etc) and social influencer.
• Prepare presentations and be comfortable presenting to clients, agency partners and internal team members.
requirements
• Four-year degree. Preferably in marketing, journalism or communications.
• 8-10 years of experience in social strategy and pr within an agency environment.
• Prior experience working with social management platforms (Spredfast, Sprinklr, Buffer, etc).
• Prior experience working with paid media for social content.
• Prior experience working with social monitoring & analytics tools (Netbase, Sysomos, Crimson Hexagon, etc).
• Prior experience in creating and managing social content across all major social platforms.
• Be prepared to show examples of the strategic and creative work that you are most proud of.
• Beauty Category experience preferred.
