VANCOUVER Manager, Production Engineering
POSITION SUMMARY
This position manages a group of R&D and/or Core Pipeline Engineers. The duties are a mix of departmental operations, project management, and personnel management, in close coordination with global technology leadership.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities:
● Manage a team of R&D and/or Core Pipeline Engineers within an ILM studio; responsible for recruiting in collaboration with global technology leadership; responsible for personnel management, performance reviews, and merit and promotion.
● In collaboration with global technology leadership and project management, support engineering projects by facilitating communication and enforcing department standards and practices, and ensure proper level of production technical support.
● In collaboration with local studio leadership, advocate for site-specific technology and pipeline issues within the global organization.
● In collaboration with the local studio leadership and global technology leadership, manage the local studio R&D/PE department budget, including travel, capital expenses, and project financial documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION
● Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or scientific discipline; advanced degree strongly preferred.
● 8+ years experience computer graphics software engineering and VFX production.
● 4+ years in a leadership role on large scale visual effects, feature animation project or multi-disciplinary engineering teams
● Leadership skills: ability to drive consensus among technical leaders and key artists and end users; ability to manage and lead engineers.
● Comprehensive knowledge of computer graphics and visual effects production; deep specialty in a specific technology domain.
● Extensive experience in software engineering and software release processes.
