Job Title
Assistant Food Editor - Family Circle
Family Circle reflects how women and families live now—we are the intersection of what matters most to moms and the ever-changing cultural conversation around us. We broaden and embrace what “family” means today, which has evolved well beyond traditional definitions. We literally go full circle, from the joys and challenges of raising tweens/teens to successfully navigating the stuff of everyday life, like getting dinner on the table and juggling busy schedules. And we help her maintain a sense of self in the middle of it all.
Family Circle is seeking a self-motivated, ambitious team player for our Assistant Food Editor. The Assistant Food Editor will develop story ideas for food columns and features that reflect the Family Circle voice and brand promise. He or she will coordinate recipe testing for all assigned stories and edit text and recipes for his/her own stories according to magazine style. He or she will read layouts, copyfit text and recipes, and provide hednotes and captions for his/her stories. He or she will stay current on food trends and competitors' content and assist with writing heds and deks for all the stories in the Food section. The Assistant Food Editor will also perform other job-related duties, such as assisting with Web-print initiatives or special sections/units when requested. He/she would assist the Food team with Facebook Live planning and execution and assist the Executive Food Editor with day-to-day department minutiae.
