The Senior Director must have a proven track record of leading a practice that delivers strategic consulting services to the Higher Education and/or Public Sector marketplace. He/She must have strong and proven business acumen for new business development, sale process, and experience in the creation of new services and the process to bring them to market. The Senior Director will lead an experienced team of Education Subject Matter Experts in various disciplines. Major responsibilities include envisioning and developing a robust portfolio of consulting services that will position Bb at the C-Level of education institutions, government entities and businesses. The responsibility and specific qualifications represent the minimum qualifications necessary for consideration.
The role has 4 major components:
• Leading a Team
◦ Leading a Global team of senior level subject matter experts/consultants from multiple disciplines
◦ Provide guidance and direction on prioritization of direct reports time allocation and ensuring that team members meet utilization targets
◦ Develop resource plans that support delivery demand on a yearly basis, and monitor on an ongoing basis, ability to scale the organization to meet growth objectives
◦ Develop and manage budget for business development expenses, subcontractors, salary and T&E
◦ Create personal performance plans for all team members and provide consistent performance feedback and a yearly performance review
• Thought Leadership and Solutions Development
◦ Responsible for uncovering and understanding evolving education technology trends and opportunities, both personally and as a leader
◦ Develop a strategy for Bb to be an instrumental voice in the dialogue of education technology innovation
◦ Develop a plan for industry participation and visibility that raises Bb profile and business prospects
◦ Envision, develop and maintain a robust portfolio of consulting solutions that are capable of delivering a revenue stream that support yearly goals
◦ Able to articulate the value of these solutions to others inside and outside the organization
◦ Contributes to thought leadership through networking/external relationships.
◦ Mentors others on emerging and strategic offerings
• Sales and Business Development
◦ Personal accountability for partnering with sales and developing a robust sales pipeline that drives quarterly sales performance for the practice.
◦ Working closely with the Account Executive and Platform sales teams to identify and develop strategic consulting opportunities
◦ Ensure that sales team is trained to sell portfolio of services by working with sales development team on training sessions and curriculum
◦ Develop custom proposals for strategic service offerings
◦ Support sales efforts as a SME
◦ Direct and support team members in their business development efforts
◦ Leverage relationships with senior level management in college, university, university systems, government and commercial settings to position Bb for opportunities
◦ Demonstrate skills in navigating issues at an academic institution and overcoming obstacles with strategic problem solving skills.
• Delivery
◦ Support the design/delivery of complex, large scale emerging/custom strategic offerings with continuous focus on Delivery Excellence
◦ Demonstrated Subject Matter Expertise across broad spectrum of functional domains.
◦ Acts as reviewer of other team members artifacts to define and evolves service specific artifacts and templates for strategic services.
◦ Demonstrates excellent written, verbal and formal presentation skills.
◦ Able to lead clients through formal strategic planning process with emphasis on process modeling and change management. Able to conduct interviews to flush out client needs and opportunities and to develop strategic recommendation based on those interview results.
◦ Ability to write client specific documents for unique implementations.
Professional Qualifications
Required Skills:
• Proven experience with leading a business consulting practice including direct accountability for sales, revenue and margin targets
• Developing and implementing effective practices and strategic plans for consulting services with major higher education institutions or systems and or Public Sector clients.
• Previous experience in developing and deploying new consulting programs/solutions to the market
• 10 years of experience working in a management role, including significant budget responsibility
• Broad understanding of education technologies including administrative systems
• Excellent skills in navigating issues at an academic institution and overcoming obstacles with strategic problem solving skills.
• An aptitude for generating client specific documents for unique implementations.
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills. Experience in writing client presentable deliverables a must.
• Successful track record at leading clients through a program of change that impacts business, processes and technology.
• Willingness to travel (up to 60% of time) and to work both independently and with a team to deliver high-quality consulting engagements required.
• Experience in managing a virtual team
• Master’s degree required or equivalent experience.
In addition:
• North American Based. No relocation.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills.
