We’re looking for an experienced Manager of Editorial Programming to join a passionate and creative team.
The Manager of Editorial Programming will oversee a streamlined and strategic plan for the packaging, promotion and curation of content at Crunchyroll across our network of owned and distributed offerings across Crunchyroll and VRV. This is a role that combines deep understanding of audience behavior, a passion for data-driven decision-making, and a healthy affinity for—and familiarity with, Anime and the fandom of nerd culture.
Responsibilities:
• Establish and oversee a central editorial calendar for stakeholders across acquisitions, Partner Management, Content Strategy, Analytics, Marketing, Promotions and Audience Development teams.
• Work across teams to confirm content priorities, balancing audience growth and engagement goals with promotions, partners and sponsorships.
• Insure a clear editorial POV that reflects a profound understanding of our audience, providing consistently delightful packaging and positioning to create the best possible experience across all platforms.
• Oversee and drive constant iteration / improvement of our on-channel content presentation, packaging and editorial content discovery
• Partner with Content Operations and Content Strategy teams to determine optimal metadata strategy and ongoing iteration for maximum impact: tags, categories, taxonomies, etc.
• Constantly evaluate and identify new opportunities to move the needle with smart curation, packaging or data-learning across all of our service touch-points.
• Serve as a key stakeholder for the Content Strategy / Analytics team, providing qualitative and quantitative feedback on programming performance against a wide range of packages, placements and tactics.
• Identify opportunities to connect on-channel efforts with other touch points through paid, social, and event marketing efforts.
• Consistently curate and oversee key images in partnership with Content Operations to insure maximum appeal and best possible presentation for our shows and brands.
• Work with the VRV team to partner on crossover content and opportunities to expand audiences.
• Collaborate with off-platform partners to extend our brands through smart curation and editorial strategies.
• Report back to internal stakeholders on performance and progress; communicate best practices and plans for improvement.
• Work with product to advocate on-platform needs and improvements.
• Key measures of success:
◦ Ability to maintain an air-tight editorial calendar combining the needs of multiple stakeholders, day-in, day-out
◦ Driving increased watch-time, engagement, and content discovery on Crunchyroll & VRV
◦ Drive increased CTR and view-through across diverse properties and titles
◦ Maintaining an aggressively programmed, timely presence on our services, with regular refresh multiple times per day based on trends
Qualifications:
• 3+ years experience in an editorial, programming, or digital publishing environment
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams and facilitate communication in a fast-paced setting with multiple stakeholders
• Strong understanding of digital content consumption and online communities
• Demonstrated decision-making and problem solving skills
• Excellent presentation, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Proven analytical skills and use of data to grow key metrics
• Ability to balance multiple priorities and requests
• Experience with digital asset management tools, web and video analytics
• An interest in anime and/or online streaming entertainment required
