Responsibilities
District Managers recruit, train, develop and manage an effective sales district consisting of sales representatives calling on colleges and universities. The District Manager has direct management responsibility for between 7 and 10 sales representatives and is accountable for achieving sales goals and implementing sales strategies including custom publishing negotiations, "bundling" agreements, and soliciting editorial and marketing support. The District Manager is also accountable for analysis, planning and financial management.
This position will cover the Southern California area.
Qualifications
• A minimum of two years successful experience as a college publishing sales representative, and a quantifiable record of achievement
• Ability to do 60% travel during the selling seasons.
• Aptitude to coach and train sales reps.
• Technological proficiency: working knowledge of the Web and basic software programs / applications
• Excellent written and oral communication
• Motivation: the drive to achieve beyond what is expected
• Academic excellence: strong academic performance and a 4-year degree
