Condé Nast seeks an EditorialAssistant for a full-time staff position.
GQ is looking for an editorial assistant to support an articles editor who primarily focuses on style, service, and pop culture stories. This job involves a key role in the team that produces the “Manual” section. This is an entry-level position.
Primary Responsibilities
• Maintain “Manual” section lineups
• Actively participate in story idea meetings
• Research and write sharp, lively blurbs for fashion stories
• Research and write captions
• Organize the calling in, storing, and testing of products
• Transcribe interviews (or coordinate transcription)
• Meet with outside PR reps
• Perform administrative tasks—meeting coordination, travel coordination, expenses, etc.
Requirements
• A deep familiarity with GQ’s journalism, both in print and online, from fashion to pop culture to politics to humor
• A fascination with current events
• A general curiosity about style trends, tech products, modern social behavior, food and drink.
• Strong reporting skills
• Strong organizational skills, a self-directed work style, exemplary communication skills
• A bachelor’s degree in English or journalism
• 1-2 years experience working in a journalism environment, ideally at a magazine
