The Digital Communications Manager oversees the social media function, which is responsible for the standardization and direction of Blackboard’s social media efforts, and also the corporate blog. He/she is responsible for aligning the social media strategy to the corporate messaging and positioning, and for overseeing implementation of that strategy. The Digital Communications Manager also tracks the social reputation of the organization, and acts as the public face of social media for the company. Also, The Digital Communications Manager oversees the corporate blog, ensuring that it aligns with corporate messaging and priorities.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
• Developing a coordinated, enterprise-wide social media strategy that ensures guidance, management and performance of Blackboard’s official social media channels (blog, Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
• Working closely with Sr. Director of Communications, develop a blog strategy and calendar that aligns with corporate communications priorities.
• Continually working with and train blog authors to ensure that blogs reflect best practices and Blackboard style.
• Overseeing publication of all blogs, including proofreading, editing and maximizing SEO.
• Routinely monitoring and appropriately participating in social media conversations with clients, users and other relevant stakeholders that impact Blackboard’s reputation
• Continuously developing and driving social media strategies to support product and corporate announcements, industry developments and thought leadership initiatives
• Promoting the organization’s use of social media, both externally and internally
• Managing centralized social operations to enable decentralized amplification on social channels, including the development of training and enablement programs to support more informed use of social media by various teams across the company
• Developing, socializing and enforcing corporate social media governance
• Collecting and disseminating social media best practices
• Managing social component of crisis communications plan
• Developing/executing plans for social support of company and industry events
• Overseeing social media measurement, including the design and operation of relevant dashboards and reports
• Managing the selection and implementation of specific social media technologies
Required Qualifications
• Three to five years of social media strategy and implementation experience
• Content development and workflow management experience
• Proven verbal and written communication skills in a variety of formats, including blogs and social media posts
• Proven editing experience.
• Experience with social media systems such as Radian6/Marketing Cloud, HootSuite, etc.
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and excel in a fast-paced environment
• Bachelor’s Degree in communications or related field
Desired Qualifications
• Proven knowledge of social media measurement and related business impact
• Experience in a corporate or PR agency setting
• Experience working in education or edtech environment
