The Fort Collins Coloradoan, part of the USA TODAY NETWORK, is seeking a digital-savvy, detail-driven editor to coach a team of four reporters working help Northern Colorado residents live their best lives in an area known for off-the-charts educational, outdoors, dining and entertainment opportunities.
The perfect candidate will have a proven track record of producing enterprising work that delights and informs audience across various digital platforms. Whether the candidate is a proven newsroom leader or a reporter looking to take the leap into editing, he or she will need to be audience driven, curious and collaborative.
The storytelling coach will lead content generation in the areas of public education, people and the environment, Fort Collins lauded food and drink scene, and cultural and recreational opportunities in Northern Colorado.
At the Coloradoan, we push boundaries of traditional print-focused journalism to meet our audience in the places they are. Equally important as a grasp of AP style will be the willingness to try new story approaches that may not even involve the printed word.
Your role:
• Work with a team of four reporters to develop unique storytelling that drives reader engagement
• Execute the Coloradoan’s daily enterprise strategy across platforms
• Coach and develop a team of reporters in multiplatform content generation
• Use metrics to make informed content decisions
• Experiment with new storytelling tools and training techniques
The salaried position may include night, weekend and holiday hours. Qualified candidates should have a degree in journalism or similar field.
