Senior Editor, Environmental Sciencessought by Springer Science+Business Media LLC, in New York, NY. 40 hrs/wk. Duties: Pursue an active and efficient acquisitions policy through correspondence, required meetings/trips, telephone, consultations with advisors. Prepare and execute publishing contracts in regard to US product. Maintain and develop a circle of reviewers and advisors and evaluate their judgments. Maintain continuous cooperation and dialogue with marketing, promotion and production concerning individual projects as well as general questions of mutual interest. Maintain communication with US, European and Asian editorial counterparts about specific immediate questions as well as long term strategy questions. Work with various branches in coordination of the international program. Supervise final editorial preparation of manuscripts for production. Discuss, assume and propose financial and budgetary plans for program. Ensure that financial reports, status reports, budget forecasts, etc., can be made on the basis of readily available material. Develop guidelines, plan, reporting systems, etc., to implement publishing plans. Maintain current status of all projects in the program via reporting system. Review and discuss new projects and plans with editorial colleagues particularly in overlapping areas. Monitor staffing requirements and trains and develop staff. Any other duties as required by manager.
Min. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences, Life Sciences or related or foreign equivalent together with 3 years of experience working in environmental research or STM publishing. Please reply with resume to: Heather Haney, One New York Plaza, Suite 4500, New York, NY 10004.
