What’s my personal contribution?
• Provide a centralised analytics and reporting service across the News UK business units (The Times, The Sun, Commercial), focusing on the interrogation and presentation of customer, product and marketing data to support audience and revenue growth
• Work closely with AIA Business Partners, Head of Insight and business stakeholders to deliver high quality outputs that allow News UK to make better decisions
• Deliver innovation in Analytics to drive transformation in News UK products, services and communications
What are my Responsibilities & Accountabilities?
• Own the reporting and analytics roadmap for The Times, The Sun and Commercial teams, which concentrates effort on key business priorities and has senior-level business sponsorship
• Responsible for ensuring that the Analytics team provide high quality analysis and reporting, using appropriate analytical methodologies, and that they collaborate with other specialists in the team to deliver the most useful insight and recommendations to News UK, including the research team
• Work with Business Partners and other Heads in the team to manage the prioritisation and delivery of planned and ad hoc briefs
• Create excellent relationships with News UK stakeholders and partner agencies, including working with Technology to ensure that data streams, information management and analytics tools continuously improve and remain fit for purpose
• Manage AIA analytics and reporting tools and capabilities, working with the Technology team on integration and data sources as needed
• Manage and develop the Analytics team
Useful knowledge, skills and experience
• Great leadership skills, not only in setting the direction of the Analytics team, but in energising and empowering them in their relationships across News UK
• Proven expertise across a wide range of analytical methodologies, including knowledge of data exploration, presentation and visualisation, and technologically literate
• Track record of delivering commercially beneficial analytics and data-based insights to large businesses, including the ability to realise potential of analytical insight investment
• High levels of logical thinking and problem solving skills, ability to draw meaningful conclusions from disparate and incomplete sources. Expert understanding of analytics processes using any media/channel.
• Strong communication skills: written, visual and verbal, and the ability to understand complex business questions and to be able to frame the right analytical question
• Ability to manage, influence and resolve conflict across a wide range of stakeholders
• Understanding of and experience in web-based analytics, predictive analytics, segmentation and reporting toolsets.
• News / Media industry experience is desirable but not essential
• Experience working alongside research teams to deliver collaborative outputs is desirable
