Job Description:
Under the direction of packaging management—the Packaging Coordinator is a non-exempt position assigned to perform post press related packaging tasks that may include, but are not limited to: Production & staff scheduling; preprint verification, product sequencing; configuring packages; delivery dock oversight; product staging; equipment set-up; and operation of: Inserters, joggers, conveyors, stackers, folders, strappers, bottom wrap machines, loaders, printers, address labelers, adhesive advertising applicators, scales, pallet jacks, fork trucks, stitch & trim binding equipment and other post-press equipment.
Additional duties may include; communication and coordination of services for commercial products and non-daily products; communication with sales department and external customers, as required; general workplace maintenance; specified reporting; consumable parts & supply inventories.
The primary objective is to support efficient production operations as needed to achieve & maintain on-time production, product quality standards, low waste, and operational safety
Accountabilities:
Area of Influence. Indicate the position’s primary area of responsibility (e.g., Head of a Business Unit, Department, etc.). Identify internal client groups or dotted-line reporting relationships that are critical to the job. Please include the frequency of the contact, if relevant.
• Primary; Packaging department operations on a designated shift
• Critical relationships;
◦ Advertising department communication
◦ Delivery dock communication
◦ Pressroom communication
Requirements:
Education:High school diploma of GED equivalent. Associate/Bachelor operation or business management degree preferred.
Experience Required or Preferred: Minimum 2years previous packaging or similar/related experience.
Specialized Knowledge: Lean production/Worksmart fundamentals preferred.
Universal Skills and Traits preferred: English language fluency, reading & writing, proficient verbal & written communication skills, excellent time management, good math skills, financial acumen, mechanical aptitude.
Technology/Equipment:
• PC skills
• Microsoft Office: Email, Excel, Word
• Basic understanding of computer networking & electronics
