About The Team
The Vocational, Business, Creative and Practical team produces resources and digital services for teachers, trainers and learners of vocational and some academic courses in schools, FE colleges and within work-based learning. These courses include BTECs and Apprenticeships in subjects ranging from Health and Social Care to Business, Performing Arts, Construction and Sport. You would be working within a matrix structure, with people from many different job functions - editorial, design, media research, sales and marketing - coming together to create and launch brilliant resources and digital services that work for learners wherever their learning takes place. The role can be based in either our Oxford or London (High Holborn) offices and you would report into a member of the publishing / product management team.
About the Role
We are looking for someone with well-developed editorial and content development skills with a particular interest in – and experience of – preparing and launching content and elearning via digital platforms. You will be part of a friendly and high-performing team, working closely with our publishers to understand customer and learner needs and to create market-winning resources for learners and their teachers/trainers.
A Day in the Life of;
During a normal day you might engage in some of the below activities:
• Briefing key authors on requirements for new projects
• Attending/leading author workshops to generate new and exciting content which meets needs of learners and teachers or trainers
• Reviewing author content, ensuring it meets the brief
• Leading on the creation of digital product – for example interactive quizzes for securing knowledge or elearning for knowledge gain
• Working with other team members to enhance their understanding of digital learning
• Getting out into the market, testing sample materials with teachers and learners and making suggestions for improvements
• Working with project managers and supplier managers to identify and manage the best freelance partners to work on our products
• Liaising with external suppliers (Publishing Services Companies) to ensure smooth running of projects they are handling
• Contributing to daily team meetings, as well as tracking projects against budget and schedule and using problem-solving skills to ensure dates are met and budget is kept to.
Qualifications
Who are we looking for?
• Experience in an editorial role (education preferred but not essential)
• Someone who loves education and is passionate about creating resources that help students make progress in their learning
• Someone who values and understands the Vocational path to learning and employment
• Someone who would enjoy working with a close team to develop exciting new resources but equally willing to take responsibility and lead on their area of responsibility
• Proven organisational /project management skills
• Proven digital skills or willingness to rapidly engage with these skills
