Bridge Studio at News UK creates content campaigns for clients and agencies that run in The Times, Sunday Times, The Sun, on social channels and elsewhere. Bridge Studio’s Unique Selling Proposition for its clients is the ability to craft editorial quality campaigns that are tailored to engage with News UK’s title audiences.
To do this, Creative Leads in Bridge Studio are responsible for ensuring the delivery of quality editorial and advertising copy for Studio-owned brand campaigns. This includes writing engaging copy to pitch our best ideas, writing copy for live campaigns, and writing and/or commissioning the best editorial and copy across key campaigns for our clients.
Creative Leads work on behalf of our clients to maximise the effectiveness of our campaigns in terms of raising awareness of the brand and engaging target audiences (for News UK titles and beyond). Put simply, Bridge Studio’s success stands or falls on the quality of its journalism – and the effectiveness of its campaigns in delivering results for its clients. The role of Creative Lead is vital to ensuring that success.
What are my Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Responsibilities
• Assume editorial responsibility for key Bridge Studio campaigns across all platforms
• Work closely with the Planning team, Campaign Management team and Bridge Studio Solutions team to deliver the best cross-platform ideas for clients
• Develop written responses to client and agency briefs, in partnership with the above
• Be familiar with all relevant News UK platforms – how they work, what audience they reach, how best to use them
• Determine the best ideas/stories/angles to deliver the needs of each campaign
• Establish the correct tone of voice for engaging target audiences on every platform
• Commission writers to produce advertising and editorial copy, (or written by Creative Leads, dependent on budget/time constraints)
• Determine the best social and advertising (eg traffic driver) content to maximise awareness of each article
• Liaise with Campaign Management to co-ordinate and respond to client feedback and manage expectations
Useful knowledge, skills and experience
Required skills
• Full understanding of editorial principles
• Fully competent in commissioning content for print, digital, video, social and other platforms
• Understanding of commercial content standards and needs
• Additional knowledge in strategic campaign planning is highly valued
Key performance Indicators
Success is determined on a number of factors:
• Delivery of campaigns to deadlines and on budget (monitored by Campaign Management team)
• Audience effectiveness (monitored by Pre- and Post-research studies)
• Quality of editorial copy (determined by Senior Creative Leads and Commercial Managing Editor)
• Successful completion of advertising and social plan, including written traffic drivers, MPUs, tweets, facebook posts, newsletter copy lines, etc (monitored by Campaign Management and wider News UK research and analytics)
Essential Behaviors
• Proven ability to work closely with fellow creatives and developers to ensure a cohesive design system
• Experience of managing and leading the development of a large and engaged social media presence on behalf of an organisation; successfully protecting and enhancing brand and engagement
• Excellent oral/written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical ideas and concepts to a non-technical audience in an accessible and engaging way
• Genuinely interested in producing the best possible cross-platform content for clients
• A ‘an-do’ approach to working interdependently with other teams, notably the Sales, Planning, Design and Project Management teams
