About the Position
Open Road Integrated Media’s marketing team bridges the traditional world of book marketing with the dynamic, fast-paced world of digital media. We leverage the worlds of social media, viral distribution and emerging technologies to market Open Road and its publishing partners' ebooks and syndicate Open Road's premium marketing content.
The department oversees marketing, advertising, promotions, and publicity, as well as technology integration across all authors and titles. Department responsibilities range from directly interacting with authors and conducting archival research to developing engaging marketing materials and finding online portals for video content to reach current and potential readers, to building and filling sections of the OR/M website with relevant content while focusing holistically on authors as brands.
Open Road is seeking a Marketing Coordinator for the integrated marketing team. This is a results oriented department. The ideal candidate must be comfortable with data and be able to apply it to his or her campaigns resulting in a direct impact on sales.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Supporting the marketing team in ongoing marketing plans that include social media, web content, advertising campaigns, and publicity elements
• Ability to analyze data and apply it to marketing plans
• Tracking marketing spends and budgets
• Maintaining library outreach lists and book mailings, researching outlets and contacts
• Researching title lists for inclusion in merchandising opportunities
• Researching authors, titles, and media partners to determine new audiences and how to reach them
• Researching potential corporate partnerships, events, and cultural opportunities to promote our ebooks
• Assisting with asset management and reporting system
• Using social media to maximum effect for Open Road and our authors: outlets include Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads, Pinterest, Instagram, and Tumblr.
• Assisting in the planning and implementation of promotional campaigns
Skills required:
• Excellent research and writing skills
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Familiarity with social media platforms, especially Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
• Skills working with a team and an ability to work within a large group, contributing ideas and taking responsibility for assignments.
• Experience with Microsoft office, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook (mail merge a plus!)
• Experience with Photoshop
• Creative approach to marketing and promotion
• Knowledge of NetGalley and Cision a plus
• Undergraduate degree required
• Immediate availability preferred
