We are the Digital SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) team, 3rd line support and platform engineering team across many of our digital products. Responsible for supporting the infrastructure and applications that enable our newsroom teams to produce world leading content and making sure those products are available for our customers.
We’re looking for: you to use your abilities to administer and troubleshoot various technical architectures and provide quality Level 3 support services to the Operations teams. Ideally you’ll be an optimistic self starter who is inclined to use software automation as a way of solving problems, able to identify fixes and enhancements across your given platform portfolio and then drive solutions to resolution. You’ll also be pivotal in the support and delivery of our digital platforms across a number of internal and external sites, providing out of hours support where necessary.
Excellent experience of the following areas:
• Deep understanding of Amazon Web Services
• Linux (Ubuntu, Amazon EC2 linux or similar)
• Experience of networking concepts, TCP/IP and HTTP/HTTPS
• Well versed in Unix shell scripting and Python, PHP or Ruby
• Good understanding of database concepts and tuning preferably MySQL
• HTML/CSS and Javascript/Json
• Apache or Nginx administration and configuration
• Dynamic Websites delivered through a CMS
• Experience of development lifecycles and methodologies

You will be joining a team of passionate and highly skilled cloud infrastructure and operations engineers who have a great understanding of the full technology stack of our products. We are curious about new technologies and often push the boundaries of new their adoption by liaising directly with AWS, Google, Apple and Akamai consultants to look at new offerings and how these can be integrated into our existing services.
In this role you will play a key part in delivering future updates to our digital platform tools and automation and help in driving the roadmap to improve capabilities.
