Design Automation Engineer Co-op
Program Overview
The Comcast Center Cooperative Internship Program (Co-op) is a six-month internship program based in the greater Philadelphia area. The program is designed to identify high-caliber talent to build our organization with the best and the brightest students who come from a variety of sourcing channels, including on-campus career fairs, partner organizations, and direct applications. In this role you will immerse yourself into the Comcast culture, working side by side with innovative and talented Comcasters. You will cultivate meaningful relationships and develop strong interpersonal and business skills that will set you apart from your peers.
Additionally, you experience will include:
Engagement: Working on creative, innovative, and thought-provoking projects within various business units at Comcast during your cooperative experience.
Exposure: An inside look into the day-to-day operations of an organization at the cutting edge of media and technology.
Professional Development: Exposure to a variety of professional development topics facilitated through our partners at Comcast University and senior leaders within the organization. These sessions include speaker series, skill-building workshops, and networking opportunities.
Mentorship: Mentoring from fellow colleagues through the Empowering Future Leaders Program (EFLP) to help you navigate your experience, provide coaching, and expand your professional network.
Fun: Continuously develop relationships with fellow interns through social activities, community building, and networking.
Role Overview
The Comcast Co-op for our team will work in the Systems Engineering department within the design infrastructure agile devops team for the Chatops program. ChatOps is a Comcast APS program designed to automate infrastructure operations and design services. The assignments will be to take manual tasks performed by database and OS engineers and automate. As well as create integration touch points between ChatOps modules and backend DevOps tools (Ansible, APIs, etc).
This co-op position will also include working with design architects on working with our customers to provide infrastructure solutions leveraging current standards including cloud foundry & AWS.
Preferred Qualifications/Requirements
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree from a United States-based college or university that has a 6 month Cooperative learning track (Sophomores, Pre-Juniors & Juniors preferred).
Majors: IT, Computer Engineering, Information Systems & Software Engineering
Minimum GPA: 2.8
Interest in software development using golang, Java, python or other latest technologies
Knowledge of Software development life cycle / DevOps concepts
Knowledge of Git (code versioning systems), JSON, YAML, REST
Knowledge of layers of OSI model and communication basics, N-tier architecture, web servers, database concepts etc.
Comfortable with Linux (CentOS/RHEL), Windows
Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong interest in the telecommunications, cable and media industries.
Ability to work on a team.
Authorized to work in the United States of America.
