JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Competitive Intelligence will manage a team responsible for tracking and reporting competitive intensity across Charter’s footprint, for both Residential and Small and Medium Business (SMB) segments. The Director will oversee several functions of the competitive team, guide priorities, initiate projects and manage relationships with other departments that support competitive intelligence efforts. Additionally, the Director will interact with key vendors that provide supplemental competitive information and reports on a regular basis. The Director will report to the Sr. Director of Competitive Intelligence, within Charter’s larger Analytics organization.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Measurement of competitive homes passed overlap for national, regional and local competitors
• Tracking of competitor internet speeds to identify entry-level speeds, max speeds and presence and growth of gigabit competitive footprint
• Analysis of Market share and flow share trending for all competitors, at local market level
• Assessment of growth opportunity and threats by geography and product
• Develop profiles of major competitors, including trended performance, strategies, identify threats and opportunities
• Identification, assessment, and sourcing of intelligence from internal and external sources
• Assisting marketing and legal teams in developing and countering competitive marketing claims
• Manage team of two skilled professionals; assist with management of vendor relationships
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities & Knowledge
• Strong knowledge of marketing principles, techniques, and processes
• Demonstrated ability to lead Competitive Analysis and Business/Industry Research projects
• Proven ability to analyze large datasets and identify trends and insights
• Strong communication skills, including experience presenting complex subjects in a concise and easy to understand fashion
• Self-motivated nature - willingness to initiate new projects explore new solutions and capabilities
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage and motivate staff and collaborate effectively across functions
• Ability to succeed in a fast-paced dynamic environment with limited oversight
Education:
• Bachelor degree from accredited four year college with major in Marketing, Management, Finance, Statistics or Economics. MBA preferred
Related Work Experience:
• Eight to ten years business experience working within a Marketing or Strategic Planning function of a large organization with an established reputation for measuring business and/or competitive intelligence (e.g., telecom, media, financial services, publishing, retail, consulting, etc.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
• MS Office skills, including PowerPoint, Excel and Word- with high level of proficiency in Excel
• Proficiency with Think Cell and Tableau
